    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Most of the year Texas is fine and I appreciate that I do not have several feet of snow to deal with in the winter.
But the middle of August with temps around 100 is the pits. The heat just saps the energy out of you. I love to garden but in August go out just long enough to water or mow, then back inside to the AC.
I just don't see how people with outdoor jobs here get through their day in August.
 
Same here in St. Louis. Heat index up near 115, humidity close to 100%. I must admit, we've had a cooler-than-average summer until this week, so I really shouldn't complain. But I will.
We had a Festival of Nations celebration down in the city yesterday, and everyone in St. Louis takes their dog everywhere they go. Those poor dogs were walking around on the asphalt in this heat. I didn't see any people walking around barefoot! (I did not attend; just saw news coverage)

At least you have AC. Most houses up here were built without it because ... well ... it's Montana.

We just finished up six weeks of highs in the 90's. I was out in the morning to take care of critters, then back in the house until the sun went down. Then it's back out to take care of animals again and open all the windows to try and get it to cool off. Trying to keep up with the watering to keep everything from dying was problematic as well.

As if it weren't expensive enough to live here - $100 a month for tv, $100 a month for internet, average of $300 a month for propane, $80 a month for trash pickup, $200 a month for electricity, blah blah blah, next year we're going to have to install an AC system. I'm getting way too old for that sweating while sitting still crap.

Mother Nature, you SUCK.

When I was out in Az, I saw a decent amount of people using "swamp coolers". Apparently, evaporative cooling systems are fairly easy to make and supposedly they're surprisingly effective. May be something that's worth looking into.

I'm in Texas too and bleh it's hot! My energy bill is through the roof trying to cool my apartment but still have all the hot spots for the critters. Can't wait for it to cool down
