heating in drawers.

For those of you who keep large amounts of snakes(housed in drawers), what do you recomend for heating them? heat pads i assume but, which brand you think works best? , should the pad be on the side, under? And should the pad be half the size of the drawer? 3/4 the size? same size?

We use Flexwatt heat tape, ran straight down the back of each rack. You can also use the heat tape underneath the bins, if you need extra heat.

Flexwatt all the way. Good stuff. WHen I first started in herps about 17 years ago I used to use the prefab heatmats but then I learned the herpers way. How to make the best possible enclusure out of things you would never even think of using. ie pots, cardboard boxes....

This picture shows the first level of a 6 tub rack(no pic of it yet).Although the top tub needs a lid to be used it was simple to build.
No cutting at all.I just used 10-2'x4'x3/4" melamine sheets.
This way i can pull the tubs foward (off the 12" piece of flexwatt in the back)and reduce the amount of heat per level while using a single thermostat.(Use a temp gun to spot check this).

Although ...in hindsight i cannot reccomend using the riser method i did .It does have a nice air space down the sides with the extra width,but it just doesnt make up for the wheels of the tubs jamming up the works ! (It was supposed to work like a track )
My intention for the risers initially was to create a heated air space below each enclosure,instead of direct contact to anything above it.The way it heats is terrific though.
