    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I picked up a rack this weekend at the MARS show from PMHerps, and I was wondering if anyone knew a trick for feeding the heat tape through the slots in the shelves. The shelves on these units are hollow so you can feed the tape through them, but I can't seem to push it through so that it comes out the other side, and the opening is so narrow that I can't fit pliers in there to grab it.

Any suggestions from people who own one of these? Thanks!

I don't have any experience with them, but I have a suggestion anyhow. Tape a playing card or other flat rigid object to the end of the tape to keep it from curling, then attach a string. Tie the string to a long stick. Pass the stick through the shelf to get the string, then carefully pull the tape through with the string. :)

If the gap is open enough , you can take a wire coat hanger ... straighten it out .... tape one end to the heat tape and feed the other through the slot and pull i all through.

If a hanger is too big, you can get some wire (not electrical, but that could work), and do the same thing...you may find that doubling & twisting it helps with rigidity

I used a long piece of cardboard to thread it through. The hollow shelves are a cool idea, but running the tape through in one continuous piece is tricky.
