Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Heika Sample ... Seller Beware

"I paid for UPS overnight regular shipping.. I received him late that day because Geoff chose to save a few bucks and ship him saver. The first stop I made was my vet office because the trip had so battered the chameleon’s eyes. I contacted Geoff immediately."

That is total BS!! I took and shipped the animal through UPS costmer center and 3:00pm Next Day is the only option they gave me!! You said in your pm to me on the Forums that the UPS driver was nice enough to deliver him to you earlier then 3:00pm, but when you sent me the UPS tracking number it shows that you signed for the package at the front counter :shrug01: !! Who is BSing who now??

Simple. Everyone here thinks you are a liar.

What part of that are you not understanding?

Well, the only response I have to that is that I am very glad the vast majority of the chameleon community isn't included in your "here." Thanks for your support, all you silent readers.. I really appreciate the tons of emails and phone calls of encouragement you have sent throughout this!

Now, to the peanut gallery.. continue with my character assasination, I do find it rather entertaining.

oh how familiar these posts are. All the liars and thieves before you have posted the same thing. "my silent friends are watching" " i enjoy you making fun of me because i am more than likely, given the information i say i have, but have not posted, a liar" Right....

If the proof you say you have was just posted ( oh how hard can that be) you could prove yourself and turn this thread around. but alas....

Cant you guys come up with something different?

Heika,

Do you not understand how saying you have proof and documentation to back up everything you say, then to turn around and say that you are not going to bother posting it makes you look suspect? Do you not realize how many countless proven liars and scammers have said and done the exact same thing here on the BOI? Do you not understand then why people are hesitant to blindly believe you? Most of us have seen this same act over and over and 99.9% of the time it is because the person in question is talking out their backside.

That would include the silent multitudes that fed you the original rumor as well ? OK. How many invisible friends can you fit in a Honda ? Let me go and find out ! C'mon gang ......... < the herd departs >.

Heika,

Before you try to jump all over Geoff for being cheap, where he is saying that the package he sent from his UPS Center to yours as a "Hold for Pick-up" only gave him the later option, maybe you might want to know their posted hours:

UPS CUSTOMER CENTER
STAFFED LOCATION
400 LAKEPORT BLVD
KLAMATH FALLS, OR 97601
800-742-5877

Hours of Operation
Mon-Fri: 2:30pm-5:30pm;
Sat, Sun: Closed

This is so lame.

Being a former UPS supervisor I can tell you that time that a package is dropped off in combination with the where the location is that you are dropping the package off will determine what level of service they can guarantee.

For example, here in Indy I can drop off Next Day for early AM delivery as late as 10 P.M. at the UPS airport location. Now lets say I was in Gnaw Bone, Indiana (real town believe it or not) and wanted to get a UPS package delivered Next Day for early AM delivery. I would probably have to have that same package dropped off at the local UPS drop spot by 2 or 3 PM to get that level of service.

As the old saying goes, location is everything.

Not to mention that only the priciest delivery of option of "early morning delivery" is guaranteed by 10 am. UPS next day air, which is typically the one that's guaranteed by 10:30 am is not guaranteed until noon. As both Jim and Shrap stated, it's not quite as cut and dry as Heika makes it out to be.

Ahem. My UPS station knows me on a first name basis. As you can see from the 2nd tracking number, I picked that package of live animals up from the UPS station front counter at well before their posted hours of operation.

That is EXACTELY my point Heika!! You just said you pick the animals up, but in your pm that you sent me you said that the driver was kind enough to deliver it to you before 3:00pm!! UPS only guarantees packages to your location by 12:00pm the earliest!! Yet if you look at the package details for tracking number 1z340x331352825641 which is the Nosy Be I sent you it shows that you actually went to UPS center and signed for the package at the front desk!! :shootfoot
I now remember what happened crystal clear thanks to Jim!! I did send it next day by 3:00pm because you had told me you would pick it up from the UPS center because the weather was so bad you didn't want it on the truck for delivery!! "HOLD FOR PICK UP"!!

Heika, It seems kind of sneaky to me to highjack a light hearted thread, that is showing off pictures with the oohs and ahhs, by posting your remark about the vet bills and shipping problems. Especially since it was in response to an equally light hearted post saying how nice your chameleons were.
I really don't know if you're a liar or not but it is pretty strange that you refuse to back up anything you say. BTW the silent minority are not doing you any favors by remaining silent.

And you could have EASILY told him not to ship. That problem falls 200% on YOU.

Maybe Alicia , but regardless of what the buyer says the seller is responsible for the animal's safe arrival. If the seller thinks it is too cold then the animal shouldn't be shipped.IMO
I don't think that's the point here anyway. I think the point is the delay in complaining.

Jeez ... what kind of nonsense is all of this :

Ahem. My UPS station knows me on a first name basis. As you can see from the 2nd tracking number, I picked that package of live animals up from the UPS station front counter at well before their posted hours of operation.

And do you not think all of us are on such a basis ? Do you not think that we all get to walk around through the bay doors before and after posted hours ? Regardless of the guarantee delivery time, which is 12 PM for you on Next Day Air, you want to bet a dollar to a doughnut that any and all packages arrive at the Center far earlier than that, and the only impediment to when you pick it up if a "hold for pick-up" is when you can get there, and when they will let you in ? The overwhelming point here is that whatever happened in January, if you did not make an issue of it being a problem or cause for exposing the animal to unnecessary stress then, then why are you now ? The merit here is what transpired between you and Geoff in January, and then how it may or may not have differed in late May and June, when for whatever reason (heck, would could that be ...) it got life again ! What is it with you Heika where problems that should have been settled in the first week become blame games instead many months later ? I know !!!! Its the breeder/seller finally getting their just due, huh ?

I agree, but i like to be clear on all parts of the problem. Was it the shipper too? was it only the reciever? was it UPS's fault for being so rough? basically, whats the scoop. *shrug*

but what im saying is, the fact that she wanted him to ship ( he clearly said he was not sure about it, but she said to ship and would take a chance) and now she is mentioning the 19 degree weather out.... why mention it at all? What exactly is the point of it?
I was reluctant to ship the chameleon because of weather conditions in her area. Heika wanted me to ship anyway saying that she would take a chance on it because she expected the weather to be this way for awhile!!

If i was buying from somone, and they did not want to ship in cold weather, so be it, im sorry but no animals life is worth risking for my own sad excitement. Same for hot weather. BUT if i wanted that animal regardless and they just added extra heat packs, or cold packs it would be MY problem if problems arose because of that need to have it then.
Regardless, the animal made it alive, but. was bounced around to the point of damage, and i have to wonder how well it was packed as well....

Hmmm, am I the silent reader you are referring to? Obviously I must be - just look at my post count and you will see I rarely post. However, I have to chime in on this one. Heika - post some proof or go away. We now have two separate instances of similar backhanded posts by you MONTHS after purchases and attempting to cast doubt on two separate cham breeders' husbandry/shipping/etc. It's apparent you are trying to "weed out" your competition in the industry and instead you have :shootfoot

Oh and before you start blaming someone else's husbandry - better do a triple take in the mirror. You have openly admitted to breeding sick animals. That alone shows me that money is your interest and not the wellbeing of the chams.

One thing I would like to know ... has anyone been duped into sending Heika replacement animals? It seems that's a quick way of getting her breeding stock numbers up without much of a monetary investment.

For what it's worth, the temps in Klamath Falls, Oregon on January 9th were right at 30 degree's. However, the day before and the day of there was freezing rain/fog. While I place weather related blame on both buyer and seller, ultimately Heika, you should have seen that the conditions were less than ideal and intervened. It was 75 degree's in Saint Petersburg, Florida when he shipped them. Weather conditions were ideal where the seller was at. You both should have used more caution at that point in time.

That would be your only possible response since you obviously have nothing to back up the claims you have made.

This comment troubles me on so many levels. Heika, are you suggesting that you only concern yourself with the thoughts and judgements of the “chameleon community”? You do understand that it was a member of that community that brought this here, and several more came later to support his claims, don’t you? So is it really the chameleon community or a small clique within the community you are only concerned with?

You mentioned you were building a breeding colony. Why? For you own enjoyment or do you intend to establish a business? Lets assume you are planning to establish a future breeding business, implying you are going to eventually need a future customer base. You need to understand your future customer base is not going to be made up of those within your clique, within your “perceived” chameleon community. Will some of your buddies buy some of your animals? Probably. Will they be buying the majority of them? Don’t kid yourself. You future customer base probably isn’t even current keepers of chameleons. They are people who will one day wish to add chameleons to their collection. People who are probably keeping other herps. People who come here to do research on future purchases. (See where I am going with this?). I am one of those future customers who would like to, one day, add one of these animals to my collection. When the time comes to research breeders, I am going to come here and see how breeders handled past business transactions. I am not going to go to the ChameleonForums and base my decision on who is friends with whom and who takes the prettiest pictures.

You may want to start handling these issues a bit more seriously. It is going to have more of an effect on you in the future than you realize. It is a shame you do not currently possess the business sense to see that now.

Bart
