Quick bio - grew up in swamps of Florida; house full of reptile visitors. Have been busy most of my life with marine research. Unable to afford time for a hobby, but did do a great deal of herp hunting/photos via camping/hiking. Now at 51, being a teacher, with kids in college, and having some neighbors leaving me with turtles...I'm becoming a box turtle advocate. I have noticed a decline in the box turtles since my childhood. At this time I'm donating the back yard to the care of the turtles (if anyone knows where I can find an adult male ornate I have a good female). I would like to try and breed the few I have and 'seed' some pristine property (about 200 acres) down on the gulf coast with the offspring - learning and taking into consideration the problems associated with relocating/releasing (I do have some experience with these issues with marine turtles - hope I can learn quick with the terrestrials). It looks like this will become my autumn year's passion and I'm in no rush; just want to do it right/well. I look forward to talking with many of you in the future. Thanks for your time, nice meeting you.
