In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Hello! My name is Rylan and I'm 18 so I'm decently young getting into reptiles for my first time.

I've been passing by this site quite a bit looking at different things from the BOI to researching everything needed to cater to any reptile I may get so I decided to finally make an account!

I currently have no reptiles so far but I've been looking into corn snakes since they look to be the best snake to start out with and seem very fun to take care of. :)

Hello from another Ohioan!! And welcome to fauna!

Welcome, Rylan! I also live in Ohio. I started with corn snakes 4 years ago and highly recommend them. They are easy to care for, easy to handle and come in a wide varierty of colors and patterns. I now have 4 corns, a trinket snake, an African house snake and an r. prasinus (green bush ratsnake). If you can, you might want to try to get to the Cleveland Reptile Show on February 21 and check out a variety of snakes, geckos, dragons, inverts, amphibians, etc. You can talk to vendors about their requirements. You might then want to do additional research on those that most appeal to you before you actually purchase one. This way you can have the right set up ready for when you bring one home. This reptile show is once a month.

There is also a Columbus reptile show. A quick Google search tells me Cleveland might be closer to you, but I wanted you to be aware of the Columbus one as well.

Thank you for the welcomes Susan and Ethan!

I actually plan on going to the Cleveland show to see what a reptile show is like and see what all they have in store :)
