Tank the Turtle
New member
Hi everyone, my name is Frank and I'm from the suburbs of Chicago, where its a blustery -5 degrees right now. Luckily, my animals and I are all indoors, so I can't complain too much. Anyways, I've been interested in herptofauna since I was a kid, and my user name is dedicated to my first reptile, a painted turtle which I still own today.
Right now, I'm lucky enough to have a job that allows me to teach people about the natural world and how to properly keep reptiles. I also hold three degrees in the biological sciences, which is why I decided to focus my career path on something I love to do. I'm also an active member of the Chicago Herpetological Society, where I educate people young and old about proper husbandry practices and give talks on topics such as small constrictor species and reptile enrichment. I have purchased a few animals on here over the last two years and finally decided to become a member so I can get more insight into some of the species I enjoy keeping and one day hope to keep.
My current list of animals is as follows
0.1 Boa constrictor
0.2 children's python
2.1 rosy boas
0.1 bamboo ratsnake
1.1 Kenyan sand boa
0.1 loxocemus bicolor (when the weather warms up I'll be getting her!)
0.1 painted turtle
I tend to like small species because they don't take up that much space and aren't intimidating during presentations. Kids in my experience are more likely to hold a sand boa than they are a 12 foot burm. I also like the oddballs and enjoy seeing the weird and wonderful for sale at shows. Some of the animals I am interested in and hope to work with (when time, space and funds allow) are abronia species, geophis (earth snakes, specifically those from costa rica), calabar pythons, all antaresia (they are such awesome little snakes!), old world ratsnakes and leachies.
Thanks for reading and have a good night!
