In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I guess it is time.... My name is Stacey and I live in the Northeast Georgia Mountains; Chattahoochee National Forrest. I currently have a small group of Crested and Leopard Geckos. I am not a commercial breeder. I have kept snakes, anoles and turtles in the past, since early childhood, I guess. I grew up in Florida, so it was very common, just not so much where I live, now. I also have 2 Goldens, 4 cats, 2 gerbils, and fish.

I am a Firefighter/Paramedic and own my own Special Needs Daycare. I kind of live in a "hurry up and wait" state most of the time and my animals act as my stress management...ha!!! I have recently started enjoying the forums as a secondary outlet and educational tool.

These animals/reptiles bring out the best in children as well as myself, and have become an invaluable part of the curriculum I offer as well. Turns out compassion and empathy are not as much human instinct as one would expect...hehe... Anyway, thanks for having me around!!!

Welcome, Stacey!
It sounds like you have a good thing going between your critters and special needs daycare. I can empathize with you as I deal with my own 'special needs' group of adults.

Welcome to Fauna Stacey :wavey:

Thanks!!! I am enjoying the search function...hehe.

Funny, I was thinking about that the other day. Would the world not be a better place if all children got to care for animals...and were educated about their needs? One "small" committment...with a huge ripple effect into adulthood.

In my daycare I integrate so called "normal" children in with my so called "special needs" children (I personally believe every soul has its own special needs. I have never met a perfect person...have you?). My method is simply "I don't tell them they are sick, and they don't act it"...ha!! My specialty is Cardiac and Renal disease.

I am so grateful my mother brought home sick brown pelicans back in the '80s.....it changed my life goals for the better. Yay for moms!!!

Again, thanks for the welcome!!!:D
