In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Just wanted to say hello.

I am the new owner of two, captive born, 5 month old, garter snakes. And yesterday I adopted a 13 yr old, normal, male ball python. His given name is Oscar but I may change that. I am letting him get used to his new surroundings before I bother him. I am really new to snake keeping and have a lot to learn.

My other hobby is tropical freshwater fish. I have kept them for well over 20 years and have 6 aquariums with various fish.

I live in Minneapolis Minnesota USA

Welcome aboard.

Go do some reading in the ball python forums so you can get your dude set up the best as possible. Not hard critters to care for, but there's some things to know for his benefit.

Garter snakes are neat too. Good fisherman they are. LOL

Good luck with your new critters, and welcome to the hobby.
Rick

Thanks Rick. Luckily "Oscar" came with everything, his cage and complete set up and food! But yeah I am into researching BPs for sure and you are right my little garters are great fisherman and worm eaters too.

Nice to meet all of you! Jade, Tyler and all

Welcome aboard!
Another herper from the mid west is always welcome. We may run into each other at the Tinley Park, IL. NARBC show next year, it is one of the best shows in the country.
You have come to the right place if you are looking for good info. on the hobby.

Hey Casey (waving from under 2 feet of snow here) Maybe by next year I'll be addicted enough to actually go to a rep show! People say I went overboard on the fish but then again I am still in the hobby so many years later! How s the weather in Vicksburg?

not too bad, 32 now and about 3" of snow. Poss. 40 on Fri!!
I am hoping for a break next week, as I have a BP in AZ. that is waiting to come for a long visit.
You have to go to the Tinley show, it will blow you away.

Yeah better get all your grocery shopping down now. lol

I'm getting scared. I have this strange feeling that I could kind of go crazy on snakes. Right now I'm in that phase where you're asking "Are snakes for me?" But I think I got past that stage pretty fast. I like their ease of care. I LOVE their colors. Even the normals blow me away with their patterns and colors. My little garters have grown on me. They are really cool little snakes. I am still sort of afraid to pick up Oscar the BP but maybe after a couple of days both of us will be a little more relaxed.

Thanks collector! looks like you got an early start on all this herp stuff. I was your age when I started getting into freshwater fish and I still keep them. I am new to snakes though. Very cool creatures from what I can tell so far.
