    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

just read that and all i can say is wow! probably not a good move for the site, IMO. almost sounds like they want more paying members and are just forcing it by doing this.

Really? Who would pay JUST to post in the classifieds? Think about it.

I believe its a good move.
You can still contact sellers via PM, which would probably be a little messy (at least on my end lol), for the sellers, but... as long as it keeps crud out of the classifieds then im all for it!

So you are incapable of making the simple motion to click the email and/or PM link in order to respond to someone's ad?

I think the reasons why are stated well on the other thread. We have discussed this on our end and that had nothing to do with it. If you could see the amount of reported posts and abuses taking place nobody would doubt the need for something to give.

Let me just state this for the record anyway. Even if it were, why make a note of it? It's free to use the classifieds. It is free to post a ad. The members here support the site. Those that complain usually don't. They are along for the free ride but are always the first to complain. I just don't get that mindset and never will.

They aren't forcing you to do anything. It's a simple matter of PM'ing or Emailing the seller. Very simple thing to do. :rolleyes:

Darn tootin. Let's see, they help moderate this site and keep things better for everyone. I'd say that they can do pretty much what they want. But what you're talking about, (the responding to the ads), the ADMIN did it, not the mods. So get your facts straight. :)

Why put more of a work load on top of the mods already very packed, work load? Giving them more work so a few will be happy doesnt make sense to me. Not to mention itll get rid of people bumping year old threads, insulting/harassing mods, and make the site more stream-line. And im sure if it causes the site to slow down to much, Rich will reverse it or find a suitable middle ground; again.

So much for utilizing the original thread and helping to contain the discussion - which,mind you, primarily benefits the members that have questions. It's a lot easier to follow a single thread than to bounce from thread to thread just because some people can't be bothered to read what has already been explained, and aren't willing to utilize the threads which have been started for the purpose of providing the information.

As far as the quoted statement above, that's one of the things I commented on in the original thread (the one I linked). Your rather simple solution is the way we've been doing things all along - if it was working effectively, there wouldn't have been a need for this step. Is it really that much of a burden to PM or email the seller? Or to check your PMs and emails if you are the seller?

Just to return to this statement for a moment. You have been a member since January, and you have received both a warning and an infraction for separate posts that you've made in the classifieds....and a quick look revealed a couple of other posts that could easily have been addressed.
Translation: it HAS been an issue with you. Kinda puts a little different spin on things :rofl:

No, this isn't really about widening the gap between paid members and non paying members. My first reaction was to close down ALL replies to the classifieds section completely. It was just at the last moment that I relented and decided to allow paid members that ability, however STILL with the caveat that they can't use replies to bump their ads. And that particular "perk" to paid members can be withdrawn without notice if abusive actions still take place from the paid members replying to ads. This is merely a test to see how that goes.

Since paid members seem to have a more vested interest in maintaining a healthy environment within the classifieds section, I felt that this group of people would be less likely to abuse this area, and run the risk of losing their membership as well as their contribution in response to that abuse. This was not intended to try to give people incentive to pay a contribution in order to post replies at all. Matter of fact, I really can't see anyone considering that AS incentive at all. Pay to merely post replies to threads? Nah, I seriously doubt anyone would consider that at all. I know that I wouldn't...

The classifieds are still free for non paying members to post their own ads in. They can still edit and delete those threads. They can still use the Classifieds Control Panel. The only thing that has changed is that non paying members can no longer REPLY to any threads (ads) within the classifieds section, for the reasons I mentioned in the original thread about this topic.

And if people had been following my expressed concerns about the abuses within the classifieds, they would have known that this was coming. I have stated previously that the EASIEST method for me to deal with most of the problems was to simply SHUT DOWN replies to the ads. Well, that's where we are right now.

I would suggest that you do something about this tunnel vision problem you appear to have. The answer is in this Feedback Forum as well as posted in announcements at the top of the classifieds forums.
