    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

OK, this is the first and LAST time this will ever happen to me. I trusted someone and I got taken. Or maybe it wasnt his fault, but I still DONT have my money back!!!

I ordered a Blue Tongue Skink and a Cali King Snake from a Charles Hardin, he goes by Chuck ([email protected]). He shipped them out Fed Exp and packed them with Extra Heat packs knowing that it was going to be cold. I knew nothing about shipping animals, I trusted him to know what to do. These both were Christmas Presents for my two sons. Well CHristmas Eve day and still NO FED EXP. Stuck in Memphis and after 2 FULL days on the phone crying to Fed Ex, they located the package but had to wait for Wildlife officials to get there to open the package. So....WAITING! Got a call from Fed Exp @ 3:30 Christmas Eve and they reported that the snake was dead when they opened the package and the skink was VERY, VERY sick and was not expected to make it. UP until this moment I had been keeping in touch with "chuck" via email. UNTIL THIS!!!! Than I hear NOTHING. I have tried to still contact the Animal shelter where the skink is to check on her, but their phones are messed up.

But I was guarateed LIVE ARRIVAL. That was one of the first things he told me. And we talked steadily for almost 2 weeks about these animals and how much my kids were looking forward to them. I feel badly for the loss of the animals, but I do deserve my money back. I paid with my PayPal. So I intend to report him to them, but I dont know if that is going to do any good or not. I might just be out my $155.00....which sucks!!!!

Does anyone know of this guy....or any advice on what to do???
 
Christmas deliveries can be held up due to the volume of mail. Perhaps the seller, prior to issuing a refund, is also trying to establish what happened. You say it is difficult for you to contact the animal shelter, it must be equally difficult for him. Further, he may be trying to see if he has any rights as against Fedex.

I understand that this did not work out as planned. I would be sad too. But he packed well, with extra heat packs, it seems like he was trying to do the right thing.

If he guaranteed live arrival he should make good. I would like to hear his side, you sound exceedingly anxious and perhaps he wants to try to hold off a day or two until he has some concrete info. After all, if the skink has pulled through he can just arrange for shipping from there.

I think it is too soon to say anything about being 'taken'. The man packed well, shipped well, and things beyond his control have transpired. Give him a bit more time to sort things out and make things right by you.

I can tell you he has no claim with FedEx. I have a reptile contract with them that gives me the right to ship reptiles even snakes, but in my contract it states I can not make a claim against them for anything. It is my responsibility to pack them accordingly to make a safe trip. I mark in bold red exactly what is in the packages right on the top of the box. I myself guarantee the reptiles that I send and I am responsible for any kind of claim with my customers. If he did not have a reptile contract with them then he shipped them illegaly.
File a claim with paypal and get your money back, you did not even receive them! Good luck with all of this, I am sorry it happened to you. Shanell- The Reptile House
 
That is excellent advice !! Sorry that such a neat gift had to go by the wayside that way...hope the deliveries in the future go much better !

That sucks for both of you I'm sure. Not trying to sound like a dick, but was the busiest time of the year to ship so if something was going to go wrong, it was most likely going to happen then.
Were you supposed to have them delivered on the 24th or did they get held up? If he has a Live Arrival guarentee on his website or said so in an email you could probably get them replaced or your money back. If he just said that on the phone to you and you don't have anything in writing, you might be screwed. But he probably wouldn't want to do that if he wanted to stay in business.

I'm locking this thread and giving the original poster a bit of time to copy and paste her post into a new thread with a title naming the individual she has an issue with, which a requirement for threads on the BOI.
