• In the past two days I have gotten emails asking about being requested to provide credit card info in order to register and also to make a post in the classifieds forums. PLEASE NOTE: In no instance will this site ask you for this sort of information. The only time any request for payment is made is if you choose to opt-in for a higher membership level, and that is done SOLELY through PayPal. Anything else is coming from a source other than this site. My guess is that this is coming through Google Adsense, but when I can get someone to send me a screen shot of this sort of request, I will know more.

    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Help-I need a snake!

Ugh, I keep thinking when I hit "quick reply" it will post right below a specific post. I saw MRC31 Crazy Crotalid Junkie said "have baby Rubber Boas" wondering if they have any now???

Leda - that is going out of the realm of the discussion areas. No sales or soliciting of animals in this section. Post a classified ad, or use private messaging.

If you are still looking I say do the research like everyone else has said. My boyfriends son is 11 and has a few ball pythons that he cares for himself and earns the money to feed them with. My boyfriend has had several ball pythons as well. I am not fond of other snakes but probably because I haven't really been around them except at shows.

Also I heard crested geckos are easy care... they like room temperature :) the biggest thing is research though... I was deathly afraid of snakes but after being around them and doing my research, I handle all 11 of ours with no problems. I have never been bit (have been struck at a few times) but my boyfriend now jokingly calls me the snake charmer as I handle them even when they are in their S shape ready to strike...

Education is the best thing to do... I still learn new stuff every day that I research and read. Good Luck :)

Kenyan Sand Boas were my first snakes, and I love them dearly. The only "problem" I have with them is 2 out of my 3 absolutely, positively refuse to eat frozen rodents reliably. (The third will eat anything thrown at him.) The "won't eat frozen" is fairly common with Kenyans. As long as you're willing to feed live, and have a reliable source, they're ideal snakes. Sturdy, slow moving, mellow, not at all nippy. Great little creatures!

The main thing is that there is no perfect snake. Every species has its own quirks or shortcomings; feeding issues, it always hides, its not active, its too squirmy, too hard to find as CBB, too expensive, etc.

Research is the key. Like I said before, even if you have a drive a little ways, try attending a reptile expo and see a lot of different species firsthand; how they look, how they feel, how they act, etc. Petstores only offer so much.

Sooo, I've been in contact with someone that can set me up with a mexican milksnake. I read up on them, great colors, like the size, sounds like-if Im understanding correctly-alot like the cornsnake?.? Just curious if anyone has any advice/experience here? I did read more than once about their tendency to defecate when they feel threatened-this concerns me... is that truly fairly common? This would come to us as a baby.
