    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello, I was looking to buy a blue tongue skink. I came across this one and the guy wasn’t 100% sure what kind it was. He said he got it as a gift over year ago.

Can you tell me how old he looks and what kind he is? And if he looks healthy?

Also what I should look for when I go to buy him to make sure he’s healthy

I'm not the greatest at identifying species but it looks like it might be a merauke to me?

Try posting pics here, there are some more experienced people who could probably ID it:

It's pretty much impossible (as far as I'm aware) to guess the age of an adult skinks, especially just from pictures. But maybe some more experienced skink keepers could guess for you.

He does look fairly healthy from the pictures, but they aren't the greatest quality pics and don't show everything. If you look at him in person, make sure to check around the eyes/nose/mouth especially like for any signs of mouth rot or respiratory infection. Also check the body to make sure there aren't any strange looking spots, mites, or bad stuck shed. Body condition looks good from the pics but that's all I can really tell.

Good luck!
