    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello, I was just in Brandon and went to a pet shop where there was a Giant Meller's chameleon for sale for $129.00. There was NO DRIPPER, NO SPRAYING. NO LIVE PLANTS, IMPROPER LIGHTING........he was huge. He appeared well fed but dehydrated and just sat on top of his branch with his eyes closed. I do not know howto care for one, I do not have the setup but would be willing to contribute towards the purchase price if someone will rescue him..........

I hate to say it because that poor animal will probably die unless someone with knowledge about chams buys him now. But. . . If you buy that animal, it only makes space for another one and the cycle will continue. If it dies, then the pet shop owner is more concerned because he/she is losing the almighty $$$ and that's usually when they stand up and take notice. I have an example for you.

I work at a reptile pet shop and there is another pet shop about 30 miles from us. They don't have that many reptiles but at a show they bought several baby green iggies from the same vendor we bought ours from. A week later the woman from the other shop called asking if our iggies were still alive. She said hers all died. I said yes alive and eating like pigs. She couldn't understand what she did wrong. Well after talking to her, no heat light whatsoever and feeding them crickets, golly no wonder they died. But if she would have sold all of them before they died, then she would be out buying more to replace those.

The best thing you can do is to give a care sheet to the owner of the pet shop. Point out that the animal needs water and not from a dish and try to help him fix the problem. Try not to be confrontational (I know it's hard and I've yet to be able to be that nice when someone is obviously killing an animal) but you won't get anywhere if you're not sickly sweet about it. (I know, I've been there, done that) Buying that animal only makes the pet shop owner want to hurry up and get another one to sell in its place.

It's sad that people will order these animals and know absolutely nothing about how to care for them. Some don't even try to figure out the proper care. There is a care sheet for almost every animal available to the pet trade somewhere on the WWW and it's not hard to find but they just don't give a crap.

They are getting out of chameleons totally and just want to get rid of the two they have, so it would be a good thing to get this Meller's out.....

If they are really getting out of chameleons and aren't just trying to make a "pity sale", then maybe I'd buy it. But I'd haggle for a much lower price, say $50, because from your description it stands a good chance of dying.

i used to live in riverview near there. i would take him in a heartbeat if i could.
i love mellers. i hope someone takes him.

So do I. While there is a little merit in teaching the pet store a lesson by not buying it and letting it die, the human side and my conscience does not want that to happen and do not want this massive creature to be the end result of a lesson. They never want another chameleon again, and are currently using my suggestons. Apparently he ate yesterday and is drinking......please...anyone....
