    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

hello there ive got a beardy who is 5half months old,and im not sure if im feeding her as i should,and i need my tank to be hotter,i have a basking bulb of 40 watts and a uv light,i have a night time glo bulb for night times,can any1 pls advice me on how to get temps up? Do i need to use a higher wattage bulb or is they any heaters i can buy,its only in the 80's but when i hold the light on the thermometer it goes up to 100(its a sticky thermometer and its on side of tank,i tried puttin one in basking area but she attacked it. Also how often should she get live insects? I still feed her twice daily with as many as she will eat in 10 mins,and i try and have greens in all the time. She gets locusts occasionally and waxworms. I give her broccoli,kale,cabbage(white and green)ive tried her with carrots,strawberrys kiwi but squash but she dont seem to like it. I want to give her as much variety as possible,so any idears are kindly welcome. If any1 reeplys pls can you email me at [email protected], as im having probs with my other email address. Many thanks kathy

You'll want a basking temperature of 100-110* and then the cool side of the tank should be around 80-85*. For heat, you can use either a regular lightbulb or a halogen flood light. I prefer the halogen flood lights because they kick out more heat per watt. The size of your tank and where it is in your house will determine what wattage bulb you'll need. I'm currently using a 75w halogen flood over the basking spot in my 75g tank. Basically the best way to increase the temperature is to increase the wattage of the bulb that you are using as well as to raise the basking spot. Sometimes you may need to use two bulbs over the tank to keep the temps right (this mostly happens when you have a large tank).

You should also pick up a digital thermometer with a probe. These are more accurate than those stick ons and can be used to take the temperature of different areas of the tank.

She should be offered live insects 2-3 times a day, as many as she'll eat in 10-15 minutes. If you're not already doing so, I'd start ordering your bugs online since she should be going through a lot of them as she grows :) Crickets, locusts, and roaches are all good feeders, just make sure they're no longer than the space between her eyes. Stay away from mealworms (they're mostly shell and hard to digest) and wax worms are like beardie junk food so only use those as an occassional treat. Silkworms and pheonix worms also make good feeders. Once she's over 16" long you can use superworms as well.
Since she's still pretty young, I wouldn't worry too much about her not being all that interested in greens - it's pretty common in young dragons. It's just important that you offer salad every day so that she can eat it / try it when she wants. Some good salad staples are collard greens, dandelion greens, endive, squash and prickly pear. Check out this site http://www.beautifuldragons.503xtreme.com/Nutrition.html - it has a helpful chart showing which foods are good to offer your dragon how often.

Hope this helps :)
