    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Help! Not sure of what to do!

So a while back, I purchased 2 baby kenyan sand boas from a lady on CL, I basically paid nothing for them and apparently they were already 3 months old and had only eaten once or twice. So i considered them rescues.

A friend of mine wanted one so I gave him one and kept the other. I tried to feed them both the day I got them and his ate while mine didnt.
After that, mine started eating fine and was putting on weight fast, eating once a week. A few months later, he was at a perfectly healthy weight and had no problems, but he just didnt fit into my collection so I sold him to a very nice guy who also had snakes.

Now heres the problem. When I sold mine, he was at least 3 times bigger than when I got him. I have just seen the one I gave to my friend (it is now staying with me as my friend moved and cant take it, so now I feel responsible for it) and apparently it has never eaten and it is about half the size it was when I got it, has shed stuck on its face, and apparently wont eat. It definitely doesnt look very good and I have been trying to get the shed off (it is currently soaking next to me) and I am going to offer it a live pinky(I dont think my "friend" ever tried to feed it live) when my pregnant mouse bursts.
Remember, it has been about 5 months since I got them, so basically this guy has eaten maybe 3 times in 8 months!:NoNo: So here is my dilemma, I definitely feel for this animal and am trying to get it better, but I dont know how to "take it back" from my friend and also give him a good lecture about keeping reptiles when he wont take care of them properly.
It really pisses me off when I put my trust in someone and they let me down, but it pisses me off more when it could cause the death of an innocent animal. This guy has other snakes (that he is selling now) that he took care of so I expected him to take care of this kenyan...but I guess not.

So, any tips or pointers on how to set this guy straight without pissing him off too much? Probably too much to ask...:angry:

Sorry, can't help ya. I'm in a similar boat and have no idea what to do about it. I think this is one of those damned if you do and damned if you don't situations. If you mention the lack of care then someone gets mad and probably won't take heed of the info anyway and you feel bad for the animals in their care. If you don't mention it, you feel bad for all animals in that person's care.

Perhaps in a non accusatory way, mention how you were able to get the animal to feed and what changes you would make to the care of that particular animal. And offer to help in with issues such as this in the future. But the "know it all" won't listen to your advice anyway, so it's a crap shoot either way.
