Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them.     Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Help! Removing ExoTera foam from lizard skin?

Hello! I'm sorry if this isn't the right place to stick this but Exo Tera customer is currently closed for the help line and I am panicking a bit it literally just took me 40 minutes to remove my Collared Lizard from her tank wall using water and I have no clue how to get it off her.

I had a elevated outcrops basking platform for her and the outcrop managed to fall off but it was sticky enough that she got stuck to it and I tried running water over it but that is absolutely not cutting it at all. I'm about to try and get her to soak for a bit and see if that helps.

Has any one else experienced this? Or any ideas on how to remove it without harming her? Should I make a vet visit first thing in the morning and see if they can do anything?
 
I recommend using either rubbing alcohol, vinegar, or olive oil as a safe solvent to try to dissolve that glue, whatever you have on hand. Alcohol will have the highest chance of working, followed by vinegar, and then olive oil.
 
I'm sorry for the double post im not sure how to edit previous posts. Thank you so much for your response. I hope I will never need to use your advice though and that I never have to use it but it's good to know!
 
Was it tape or glue? Your initial post was unclear. If there is residual glue I would try to get it off her. If she appears stressed though, I would put her in a temporary, small container for the night with no debris for her to stick to. Once she is calmed down, you can then work to remove the rest of the glue.
 
Sorry! Didn't mean to be unclear. It was double sided foam tape and she doesn't have any left on her it all came off with the foam. She seems to have returned to normal though, now that the foam tape is off her and I'm going to keep a very close eye on her.
