    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Help with baby albino corn snake

My daughter has just got a baby albino corn snake but it wont eat. We put a pinky in there with is and even held it in front of it but it still wont eat. How can we get it to eat? He is about 8 weeks old.
 
How long have you had it?

Often, they just need time to settle in to their new home. Make sure all of your husbandry is correct (temps, hides, etc), and then leave him alone for a few days other than necessities like filling his water dish if needed, before trying to feed again.

Sometimes, if he still doesn't feed, putting them into a small container (think margarine tub size, with airholes of course) or even a brown paper lunch sack, dropping in the pinkie, closing tightly, and then setting him back in their enclosure overnight will do the trick as well.
 
We have already tried the thing with putting him in a little tub with the pinky. Can they eat crickets? Someone told us they could but I wouldnt think it would be alright.
 
No they do not eat crickets.

Please answer the questions regarding your husbandry that Cathy asked, it will give us a better understanding of what the problem might be.
 
All of the housing is correct. We also have two ball pythons one is 8 years old and the other is 6 weeks old. The corn snake is in a 20 gallon tank with a heat pad and the reptile bark with a bowel of water and a hide place that is on a heating pad with the bark over it. I read they can go 6 weeks without eating and to just offer them a pinky once a week.
 
SHe really needs to have a hide on BOTH the warm and cool sides...she may be too warm but staying there to feel secure. Is the heater on a thermostat?

Please understand that you saying the housing is correct really doesn't mean anything...just about everybody that comes here asking for help insists that they are doing everything right. The questions are asked so that we can try to help you.
Ball pythons are totally different animals, with different husbandry needs. Congrats on having them and, presumably, doing well with them...but its apples and oranges. Corns are easy - but they aren't balls, and won't thrive under the same conditions.
If she is about 8 weeks old, she could well be going into a shed (without knowing how long you've had her, though, that is just one of the many possibilities). What was she eating when you got her? When you say you held the pinky in front of her, you didn't mean with your hands, did you???? (no, no threat to you, but awfully intimidating for her)

First of all, get it a 10 gallon, it might be stressed by all the room. Give it a hide on both sides, cool and warm. And always check the temperatures. What are they now?? Also, let me get this straight, you have the UTH in the tank? It should be stuck under the bottom, if on the inside it could be too warm and the reason for not eating.
