    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hey I'm not new to Fauna but I am to posting in the Forums, if I'm doing something wrong or not posting in the right area just let me know and I'll "fix" it next time (no need to be rude about it). :) So, I have a pair of Albino Burms that I was looking to breed next year. My male is 9ft. and my female is 8.5ft I didn't think it would be a problem to put them together for a week or two while I built the male a new enclosure (I just got rid of his). So I did, and the next morning he was on top of her and they were locked up (copulation). I didn't think she was big enough but I thought "hey if they want to why not let them?" I then dropped their temps and raised humidity a little.
Is this the wrong way to go about it or should I separate them and wait until next year as planned?
Essentially I guess it's up to me (or them rather) but I don't know what I should do.
By the way that was 2 days ago and that was the only time I saw them locked up for about 2 hours then I had to leave so it may have been a little longer.

Help me out please.

I moved this to the Python Discussion forum.

Personally, I would not breed the female at that size (back when I bred burms, I waited til the females were about 12 ft - despite knowing they could breed smaller)
 
Okay thanks, I didn't think she was even able to breed at 8.5 so I didn't think I would see any action.
It's not normal for the male to try even when the female isn't ready is it?
 
Males will copulate if they get the chance.
Females (of any species) can generally reproduce younger/smaller than conventional wisdom dictates...that doesn't mean those facts should be exploited. If you weren't planning on breeding them, separate them & hope the job didn't get done.
 
a female that small (depending on weight) could die from trying to lay. as Harald said, separate em till next year. but hey, you could get lucky and have her survive and lay.
