    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Help with crack in beak

I am supposed to be getting this tortoise and want to know opinions on it. What course of action do you recommend? How long has it been since the beak has been trimmed. The pic isn't very good but it was what i was sent.

I always reccomend a good exotics vet that specializes in reptiles, or that has a ton of documented reptile hours to anyone getting into the hobby.

Beaks most often can easily be trimmed or sanded back. However, in my experience, animals that have overgrown beaks and nails most often come from owners/homes that didn't provide proper care to start with so the over grown beak is just the tip of the iceberg.

If you're taking that guy in as a rescue, you should get a full work up on him to see the whole picture. You might be looking at some diet/husbandry related deficiencies.
