• In the past two days I have gotten emails asking about being requested to provide credit card info in order to register and also to make a post in the classifieds forums. PLEASE NOTE: In no instance will this site ask you for this sort of information. The only time any request for payment is made is if you choose to opt-in for a higher membership level, and that is done SOLELY through PayPal. Anything else is coming from a source other than this site. My guess is that this is coming through Google Adsense, but when I can get someone to send me a screen shot of this sort of request, I will know more.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

help with mites and ticks

i got a ball python in january and it got mites and ticks a while ago. we tried everything to get rid of them, but they wont go away!! :uzi: the ticks are frikin HUGE :eatsmiley the mites are getting fatter and fatter.i am trying to get ahold of a vet but cant get the money/ :hot: I may not be THe BEST ball python owner like alot of people on this forum,but i need help please. And if i have this thread on the wrong place my apoligies :toiletcla
 
1. First thing is to pull the ticks off the snake. Use tweezers and pull them off just like you would pull them off a dog.
2. Then place the snake in a container of lukewarm water about 1/2" deep. You do this to see if the snake will drink. If he doesn't drink after about 10 minutes, then you remove him from the water.
3. Put some soap in the water, dish soap is okay. Put the snake back in the water and put a lid on the container so he can't get out. Keep him warm.
4. Throw away all old bedding from the snake's cage. Use bleach & water and clean all cage accessories and the cage.
5. Spray cage with Provent-A-Mite, Reptile Relief or any brand of mite spray.
6. Replace bedding and water dish after the spray has settled and dried.
7. Put snake back in cage.

Do this again in a week to kill any eggs that may have been missed.

The ticks & mites are going to kill this snake if you don't do something soon.
 
Reptile relief works very well, and it can be easily applied using a cloth. Another suggestion is a simple luke warm bath after you have picked all the ticks you could find off with tweezers. It will drown the remaining mites and any ticks remaining should dislodge themselves enough to come into plain view. It'll take a few "dips" but its relatively easy. Be sure to sanitize all enclosures in its vacinity. Karens tips above are very accurate.
