In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I know it takes some time to get used to a new environment but I could use some help from experienced people out there,
ok I got a box turtle, she has everything she needs in her pen including 3 foot fencing to keep her in and to keep predators out. She is eating the meal worms but so far not the earthworms, she is also not eating any of the salad that iam giving to her. She has dug a hole which she sleeps in at night and goes to from time to time during the day, iam trying to leave her be, except for the feeding of the meal worms and changing of her water because recently i believe she is trying to bite me, i see her putting her head back and opening her mouth wide. I just got her in the mail on wednesday, which she was great that day, still only eating worms but she enjoyed her warm bath and all. i also got her vitamins -reptocal. If anyone has any suggestions of what i might be doing wrong or things i haven't tried yet, please let me know.

sounds like everything is going well, try feeding her some fruit, box turtles dont really like greens to much, try feeding her strawberrys they love that. also dandylions. they are very attracted to reds and yellows. also make sure her water dish is large anough for her to get into and soak. as long as she is eating the meal worms you are in good shape. you boxie is most likely wild cought so it may be a good idea to de-worm her. as well as have a nesting site , becuse who knows what she was doing out in the wild. you may end up with some eggs. so be ready for that.

thanks for your help, i have gotten her to nibble on a earthworm and i intended to use this as last resort, but i did put a teaspoon of wet dog food and she also nibbled that. I did forget to say she is a young turtle, I will try the foods you said also.
I read that young ones are mainly meat eaters and i read about feeder fish such as rosies and pinkies and even pink salmon, what do you suggest on these foods?

i dont really like to feed my box turtles dog food, its just to fatty, but if your looking for a varied diet dry some tuna in a can. and yeah the younger box turtles mainly go after bugs or rotting meat. i dont know how accessable this stuff is to you but mine love cactus pads and hibiscus flowers. also pet shops sell a canned box turtle food. what species of box turtle do you have?

adult box turtles eat almost anything, but fresh WCs will defently be a little picky, and some may never eat at all. thats why your already a step ahead. good luck with her, just try new things and feed her what she likes.

hey check these guys out, i rehabed a female box turtle that was ran over by a lawn mower, and had some pretty bad shell wounds. she laid these three eggs, just thought u would like to take a look.

very cute, but what you said earlier, gosh i hope she doesnt lay eggs just yet.
Do you think she would be alright alone or does she need companionship?

Iam not sure exactly what she is , i believe an ornate box turtle, she has the line down her shell and looks like the same markings as the pics that u just posted.

how big is she? get a ruler and messure just the top of the shell.or take a couple pics with something to compair her size to, and i can tell you if its an adult or not.

I measured the shell to be 5 inches and from looking at some box turtle care sheets, she looks alot like the florida box turtle, i really dont know much except that she came from texas.

well florida box turtles are illeagle to sell, its most likely a desert or ornate they both come from texas. and a 5 incer probly can lay eggs.

but how come you posted in an old thread , i was just upset when all of that was going on , i meen i thought i was being nice and helping you out. i guess thats what i get in return. thanks

oh my i has no idea i had to use my full name and i told them i would fix it yet i got a warning anyway.
I am just open mouthed right now.
I did respond right away and fixed it.
All i wanted is help with my new friend.

well i hope i helped you , not to many people at this site are big turtle keepers. so i pay extra attention to those kinds of posts . just dont judge me on what was said on that other thread that you posted on.

No i dont do that and please the same for me, I honestly did not know that I had to put in my whole name, see iam a mother of two children who has been stalked in the past so iam wary of using my full name to where i might be located.
She seems to be doing better and i tried an orange and grapes, i will check later to see if she has eaten it.
Did you get my question about her needing a mate or will she be alright alone?

box turtles live alone in the wild, the only time they come together is during breeding season. but if you got another female they wouldnt fight or anything.

thankyou for all your help, Iam getting off this site before i get any more unwarranted warnings, other than you I will do my research for my new friend on the computer and stay out of places like this.
I thought this forum was for reptile lovers and such

You have a good day

it is , dont be upset about a silly warning point. everyone has them, its just easy so you understand the rules. fauna is a good site with tons of people who keep and breed reptiles. but i do understand where you are comeing from, my email is [email protected] if you ever have questions or whatever just drop me a line. the people at this site have given me 2nd and 3rd chances, after i acted poorly , maybe you should give this site a 2nd chance. but thats up to you, take care and good luck!

I will save your email just in case I run into any more problems with her. As far as this site iam going to go on the ebay community animals site and see if i can talk about my turtle there.
To me it just seems friendlier.
