    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

help with a ball python?! she layed eggs and only one looks good now what?

I'm not sure what you mean by, "now what"....what exactly are you wanting to know? If you aren't sure if they are good or not, if you can post pics, we may be able to help out....have you put them into the incubator, or...? Is mama snake looking ok?

more specific

i dont know how old my female is, how do i tell? does her age make a difference on repoductivity and this was her first time laying eggs is the first batch ussually no good? she also left her eggs is this a sign? none of the eggs were any good but can domistic snakes hatch them on their own? i need help but my girl looks ok. also can u leave the male with the female and her eggs? im not trying to this for profit but we love our snakes and we thought babys would be nice. the boy and the girl have been together for about a year i would hate to separate them.

I don't think there's really any way to tell just how old she is. When adressing breeding a female, a rule of thumb is that they should be a minimum of 1600 grams in weight, (usually around the age of 3 if fed a moderate, healthy diet) and in optimum health. Egg bearing is very hard on a female, and if she is too young or small, not only do you risk the eggs, you also risk the health of the female. As long as the female is of proper size, age, and health, the first clutch of eggs has no less chance of being fertile than the 5th clutch.

Domestic snakes are capable of incuabting and hatching their own eggs, but you have to monitor the temps and humidity VERY carefully to have any success. As far as leaving her eggs, it could have been caused by many things, not the least of which being that the male was left in with her.

Ball Pythons are solitary creatures by nature, they should not be housed together with another snake other than strictly for breeding, and then returned to their own enclosures. Trust me, they are not "attached to each other" in any way....anything you may see as them cuddling up together is no more than competing for the best spot to be laying.

I'm going to go ahead and agree with Cat. Also, Female ball pythons are good at telling which of their eggs are good, and will push bad eggs outside the clutch.
I would certainly remove the male.. well months ago.. but now is second best. In the future put the male with the female for maybe 3 days at a time during breeding season, giving them at least 3 days apart in between. I wish you more luck next year!
