You've never heard of it being wrong to claim you are something you aren't in order to get free animals and supplies?
Maybe this is a misunderstanding - are you setting up a legitimate reptile rescue (people will want some proof), or are you using the term "rescue" to mean you are willing to take unwanted animals. There is HUGE difference in the eyes of this community.
I think many of us have taken in, fostered, or helped find homes for animals that others wanted to get rid of - I used to do quite a bit of it before I shifted my focus...but I never called myself a rescue.
Will you take in any reptile that is offered?
Do you have the experience to do so?
What will you do with the animals once you have them?
Are you able, and prepared, to provide veterinary treatment?
Are you prepared to provide long term care/housing for several iguanas and large constrictors?
Have you figured out the applicable State and local laws pertaining to reptiles? (of course, in many cases, a legitimate rescue will be issued permits for restricted animals)
On a personal level, I have no problem with you deciding that you want to help people by taking in reptiles they no longer want....I do have a problem with you calling yourself a rescue and soliciting free stuff IF you aren't operating a legally recognized rescue.
