In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Here we go again -> Hurricane Rita

Looks like another monster in the Gulf of Mexico.

Yes, and I have already heard that because of the POSSIBILITY of further damage the gas prices will have to go back up again.

I give up. Anyone want to go north into nowhere land and live as our forefathers did? I'll get lonely without a companion.

This Hurricane looks like it is coming my way, it is scary........

Lucille,

This is now (as of 4PM Eastern time) a Category 5 storm with maximum sustained winds of 165 mph. If you (and this applies to anyone else reading this as well) are anywhere near it's path get the hell out of Dodge NOW!! You have just over 24 hours to get out of harm's way.

Head up North...

You end up in my neck of the woods, knock...we have plenty of floor space and there's room for herps!!

Seriously, I mean that. If anyone needs a place to stay and they haven't anywhere else, start driving and call me: 219-617-1753 we'll put you up and your critters. It'll be crowded with the kids here, but you won't be lonely or bored--LOL!:)

damn.......

You're the best Maggie.

I left at 5:30AM, it took over six hours to get just North of Houston, and traffic was proceeding about 1 MPH, gridlocked, with tempers flaring and people being mean and cutting each other off. The contra lane idea is not working. People are running out of gas on the side of the road and there is no more gas in many, many places.

Then, I called to check on my child who was supposed to leave with his gf's family, and I found to my distress that he was still in Friendswood, the family has been waiting around and not making decisions and they had not yet left. No mother on earth would leave her child in peril, so I turned around and went back.

I am not sure what will happen, things are very scary; so I would like to take this opportunity to tell all of you that I genuinely like this board and the individualist people on it, all of y'all, a lot.

If I don't make it, y'all take care of each other and be nice to Webslave: remember that no matter what our differences come to, we have to stick together as reptile owners and as citizens of Fauna.

Take care and be good to one another,
Lucille

Lucille, isnt there anyway you can get out? I see so many in trouble and wish I could help. I am in Oregon so too far away to let you stay here, but I will be praying for you and all in the storms path.

Thank y'all for y'all's well wishes. At the last moment, a neighbor who had gas in her vehicle offered to let me come along with their family.

We were in Austin a total of 12 hours before heading back, this hurricane which initially looked like it was going to flatten my town veered off and there was actually sunshine today while I mowed and waited for the power to return which it did a short while ago.

I feel blessed to be alive; I hope for no more adventures of that kind any time soon, though......

glad to see you made it lucille!!!! wouldnt be the same around here without you!! how did you son and his girlfriend make out??

Thanks be that this thing didn't do quite what was imagined to our friends. Here's hoping that there will be some rest for the gulf for quite some time. You all have had enough!

Thank you all for your kind words and wishes.
The family went to Corpus Christi, my son has returned as well. Next time I will try to impress on him the necessity of leaving earlier, but I hope next time is a long time in the future.
