    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I picked up this girl last year from Garrick DeMeyer. I was just "visiting" his site, I wasn't even shopping for anything, and going through the pastels and this girl just popped off the page:

She was far from the most affordable pastel he was offering at the time, in fact, she was about $100 to $150 more than all the other female pastels he was offering. I didn't even hesitate - I purchased her on the spot. She literally popped off the page in comparison to all the others he had available.

I was cleaning tubs yesterday, and she had just shed, and although I see her all the time, she still made me go "wow!!!!". A year and half later, this is her. With flash:

My take away? I've never been a bargain shopper when it comes to building my collection. I'm a quality shopper. I'm willing to jump on a superior animal, and recognize the value of a superior animal and don't think "I could get that cheaper somewhere else" - No, actually, I couldn't get it cheaper somewhere else. THAT animal and that quality can only be purchased from that particular seller.

I've taken her to a couple shows and put her on the USARK table for display only. I've had offers, very nice offers, to buy her from me. She's not going anywhere! :p

And she's "just" a pastel. I honestly don't know what I'll pair her up with yet, but I've got until next season to decide. :D

I couldn't agree more - shopping by price is common when the focus is getting something; it becomes less of a factor when one finds the animal that clicks/fits.

Ooooh, that's a neat Pastel! Pretty girl!

That's kinda how I choose mine, too: it has to look awesome (good quality) and it has to "click" with me. The picture will call to me and say, "BUY ME. YOU KNOW YOU WANT ME. I'M PERFECT. SEE?" It's hard to resist that. ;)

WOW! If I saw a pastel that looked like that as a baby I would have jumped all over it! She is BEAUTIFUL! The pattern she has is wonderful too! I hope you find the perfect mate(s) for her, those babies will be stunning! Keep us all updated please! :)

Great post and suuuuuuuper truthful! Good job! ;)

I couldn't agree more. When it comes to choosing my breeders, I like to get the best I can, as it will reflect in my offspring later.

I have lost many local sales due to the fact of sometimes being priced higher on certain animals then my local competitors, to only later run into one of my (lost sales), that will say, "boy, I wish I would have gotten that one from you instead" or "mine didn't stay as pretty as yours as an adult", and of course the list of other things.

Its hard not to say I told you so, and I usually do. Point is, you get what you pay for, and if you pay for garbage, don't cry when it stinks!
