I got this girl at Hamburg, she was small, but i did not really think about that too much ( there were not a ton of Het Pied females available that day, either and i definitely was set on getting one) Guy had a pied on his table and a couple other hets and a few other things, shes got good markers and im not too worried about that part. Asked if she was eating and he said she was, live or FT...
We get home and get everybody set up and a few days later i try feeding, most everyone else took, except for her.
She was around 40-50 grams when i got her? must have JUST hatched... ridiculous. Anyway, this girl wouldnt eat. at all. I started looking for various other types of food to get for her, but unfortunately had a hard time this go getting african soft furs, which i was going to breed to feed to her if she needed.
Couldnt find them so i started assist feeding her. She started doing well, finally, was gaining weight and looking better, i had her around 90-100 grams? while still trying ( gently) a live mouse or rat pup, small, dead ( prekilled) frozen thawed and the like. I wouldnt offer them all at once or every single feed, i didnt want to add tress, She started taking assist feeding with me just simply placing the food in her mouth, i had hope. Tried everything under the sun that i had available for her to no avail.
Temps and set up are fine, entirely. I wasnt holding her, ONLY doing her water and such and just pretty much leaving her entirely alone. I wanted NO other outside issues to make this worse.
FINALLY a few weeks ago i gave her another live adult mouse and she HAMMERED it. I couldnt believe it!!!! The next feeding i did the same, another live mouse, HAMMERED!!!! Stoked! So stoked! She ate entirely of her own accord and tonight i gave her a frozen thawed mouse, HAMMERED IT. She took a bit to start swallowing it, but i watched her gulp the last bit down a few moments ago. <3! Incredible. I am nothing but totally happy. If she wasnt going to start feeding on her own id have had to scratch her from my plans and buy another female. But now that shes eating, im so happy.
She started to crawl out of the tub, showed her the mouse and started tongue flicking and BAM. Pretending to be a green tree python or something.
