In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hey Guyz!~

First post here and so far I think ive found a new home!~
Just not sure about the whole calcium setup....

-Calcium With D-3 Should be coated on worms and crickets once a week.
-Straight Calcium Should be put in small cup and left in cage at all timez.

Correct?

Ive only been able to find Calcium with D-3 such as Rep-Cal!~

Any suggestion's on where I might find pure? or a specific Brand name?

Thnx for all your help guyz!~

Nice leos bud!

You should dust your adult leos crix every other feeding with calcium (with D3 and without phosphorus), the juvies need this every feeding. Once a week you should dust with a reptile multivitamin instead of calcium. It is also a good idea to leave a small bowl (I'd always used a soda lid) of this calcium in the cage. They will lick it up if they are lacking in calcium. You probably know this already, but you should feed your crix while they are waiting to be fed off to the leos to increase their nutritional value.

I think I got all of the questions?

Oh and welcome to the site. You'll enjoy it as well as learn a lot of new stuff, I have. There are many reputable breeders here of almost anything as you find out as you spend more time here.

Oh yeah, missed one. If you can't find the suppliments you need at your local petstore or if they are too expensive for you, you can google it or find someone here that sells it on their site. They suppliments do expire, so don't buy in bulk.

Welcome to Fauna! One question and I'm not trying to bajer but do you keep your Leos on paper towels?

I've use JurassiCal which can be picked up at PetSmart, I believe it's pure calcium. Right now I have the Rep-Cal w/ vit D, and it works fine. I usually use the pure calcium, but I was in a pinch and just picked up what was avaliable.

Make sure to offer some kind of calcium in a dish. In the past I would just dust the crickets. It was fine for adult males and non-breeding females, but babies would occasionally develop MBD. Live and Learn.

Also If your keeping them on wood shavings I would change that quickly. That would be just asking for an impaction. Remember, safety first....looks second (or maybe third). :D

Jurassic cal actually is a bad calcuim supplement. The calcium values are not adequate. This was proven in research that my boss( a vet) asquired at a conference. T-Rex was the only brand on the shelf that did what it was suppose to

I tend to think that dusting with calcium with D3 ever day is a bit much D3 for Leos
I have been using pure calcium every day and in their enclosures and calcium with D3 once or twice per week for 10 years with np's
Cuttle bones work as a pure source of calcium
They are pure calcium carbonate-just make sure to get the plain ones
If you use a vit/mineral supplement such as vionate I don't really see the need for any other form of calcium with D3 beside using the pure calcium
just my 2 cents

Sandy
