In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hey! thank u for reading this. My boyfriend is just now getting into reptiles because ive had several. He has this idea that he wants to get this really big aquarium and have a water side and a land side. He wants to put different reptiles in it...frogs,hermit crabs, lizards. Since ive had lizards I know putting all those things together proabably isnt possible lol. I wanted to know though is there ANY reptile that can be housed with a different kind . Ive seen water dragons, frogs, and chamelians together. That was at a petstore so I didnt want to go off that..knowing pet stores usually do the complete wrong things where I live. Also wondering if you can put hermit crabs in a aquarium with other lizards? on the water side of the tank my boyfriend wants to put some small fish in there. I used to know someone with a water dragon who had a land and water side and it worked very well. I just wanted to get ur opinion on all of this! any advice would be really appreciated and if you house ur lizards with other lizards id love to know about ur experience. Thanks !

I had a water dragon for 11 years.I kept him in a 120 gallon breeder tank with a bufo marine toad many fish, crayfish and snails. The toad and the dragon lived happily together you would find the sleepin together. they would go fishing and crabbing every once in a while so i would not recommend putting anything with a high value unless it can swim really fast.
I had 18 inchs of water in the whole tank and built a platform which covered half the water surface then built that side of the tank up another 2 feet so the dragon could climb and bask.Hope this helps.

Since Hermit Crabs are nocturnal and most of your tropical lizards like Water Dragons are not I would be afraid of the little monsters picking on and eating the lizards at some point.

Not to mention what they could do to a frog. Most frogs are slightly(tree frogs) to very(firebellied toads) toxic when consumed by other animals. I personally would not do it due to the risk at some point.

Another thought to ponder is most of these creatures would never come into contact with each other in the wild either due to geographical location or habitat/habits. To confine them together to me equals a beginning recipe for disaster.

I have heard of people doing this and telling me they have had great sucess with it. I would like to hear from these folks in a couple years and see just how enthusiatic they are then.

Just my 0.02.

THank u so much for your help~ ! To Joeken that is a amazing story about ur lizard and frog. I guess that is one of those rare circumstances where a lizard and frog actually get along with each other. That would be a awsome thing to try but I have had so many people tell me that would never work at all. Its good u had a great experience with it though. do you have any pictures of ur tank that I could see? I would like to give my bf some ideas of what it could look like.
Are snails easy to keep with anything?

To Lakeside Boas That is good to know about the hermit crabs. I did not think about that. THat is why I like to ask people who know before I try to experiment. I hate when animals have to die because a lack of a persons judgement you know. Can you house any two...three..ect kinds of frogs together or do all of the same frogs have to be housed together. ?

thanks again for ur help. any other advice from you or people reading this would be appreciated. Also any experiences of people houseing two different kind of reptiles would be great. !

Although it is possible, I have 9 hermit crabs and I really don't think they would pick on the other creatures. When they are threatened they'd much rather go into their shell, and really the only time they pinch is when they're climbing (or, for a person, if they feel like they are going to fall... although like all species, some are just plain ornery) and hermit crabs carry no trans-species diseases. They are tropical critters so they'd rejoice in the humidity and like to bury in the sand. It is very important to have good shells for them, I'd highly suggest shells from FMR (Florida Marine Research) they are the top of the line link . There's also crabmom.com . If you decide to incorporate hermit crabs, I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have :).

Good luck!

Atomicgrrl thank you for your link on hermit crabs! the shells are really pretty on there. Just out of curiosity what do you need to keep hermit crabs..like what kind of setup and what do they eat. That is one thing I have never kept before and soundslike it would be a easy kind of pet. Any advice or info you have on that I would be interested!

Thanks LAkesideBoas for your post to. I will tell my bf not to put hermit crabs in there. I would not want them to get eaten. Alot of people tell me this idea he has will never work . It might not and people are prob right its just that ive heard of it working. That makes me think mabe there is a way if he did it right u know? he wants to put barriers up in cage all the animals wont come in contact with each other. mabe that would be good idea? anyone else please feel free to post !
