In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi all,

I've recently purchased a baby amel corn snake from a local reptile dealer. It is about 35cm long and about 0.7cm in diameter. I am wondering how long it will take for it to reach adulthood and sexual maturity. I also will need to know how to tell whether this snake is male or female, since I intend to breed it when it is mature.

It's shed its skin a few hours ago, should I wait a few days before handling him/her, or will handling still be okay? I was told by the dealer that handing snakes from a young age helps them to become more friendly towards people in adulthood.

I'm completely new to having a snake, so I want to do the best I can in helping it to grow up healthily and happily.

My dad, who is also new to snakes, had purchased a breeding pair of Hognose snakes. The female is pregnant and he has followed the instructions of the dealer regarding setting up the incubator. Does he need to separate each snake into seperate snake boxes after the eggs have hatched, or is it okay for him to keep them together for a short while?

I know it's probably off topic for me to mention this here, but I also own a male Chilean Rose tarantula, a few flagtail coldwater fish and two Devon Rex cats.

Ciao,
Hellfire

It depends on who you ask. I wait until the female is 3 years old and 2 for the male. If you could post a pic of the tail and vent someone could give you an educated guess as to the gender.

You can handle it after a shed, but should wait two day after a feeding to avoid stressing it out and causing a regurge.

I'd keep them seperate. it makes it easier to determine which one did what. If you have a regurge and they are all together you won't be able to tell which one has the problem.
