I have had since hatchling. Eats everyday with out fail! Zoo Med hatchling then mazuri and occasionally aqua max. Numerous live eatable plant in tanks. Think what you want but malnourishment is wrong.
 
100% eastern the strip and color is why I kept him. He came out of a pond with only eastern so unless some one came over with a southern and put in my pond and then took said turtle back it is 100% eastern. Any one else want to chime in with your infinite knowledge with eastern painted turtles.
 
it does look like a yellow stripe i know southerns have red stripe. Like you said beatiful coolered. I live in ct anf caught so many. Good luck with sale
 
It’s an eastern and he is correct I had one a long time ago
It stayed super small just didn’t want to grow I had it for 6 years
And are daily shell was rock solid just didn’t seem to want to grow
It’s a very nice looking turtle you have :)
