These pupae are being stored at at a steady cool temp. to ensure they won't hatch until they're in the package being shipped to your door.
Place the cup of flies in the freezer for 3.5 minutes to stun them, they'll become dormant and you can easily handle them.
But, you only have a couple minutes before they warm up and start to fly again, so don't wait around, go right a head and toss them in your pet's enclosure.
You want them to live a longer life?
Stick the cup of flies in the freezer for 3.5 minutes to put them to sleep.
Put them in a bigger container with a few small holes in it, and offer them a little bottle cap filled with sugar and water. 50/50 ratio is good. Place a crumbled piece of paper in the bottle cap so they won't drown.
They'll survive for a good month.
You can also,
Stick the cup of flies in the freezer for 3.5 minutes, and toss them in a large container. The larger container should have a few tiny holes in it for air.
Place a bottle cap filled with sugar and water mixed, put a small piece of crumbled paper in it, so the flies have something to walk on.
Let them snack on the sugar water for a day or two, then stick them in the fridge. They'll live for 2 weeks in there like that, they'll basically be half asleep.
Then you can feed them outside and they'll live for an extra 3-4 weeks.
1 GRAM = about 45-50 flies
