In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

what should i put inside the incubator? perlite, vermiculite?or what else?and where to buy online?thanks

i'm using vermiculite and i got it from lllreptile.com. so far so good with it. of course this is my first clutch and still have several weeks to go.

I use vermiculite as well, I was using both vermiculite and perlite to see which I liked best, perlite seams to dry out faster. for me. Some people will say different.

You can usually get both at most garden shops, Home Depot, Walmart, etc

I use perlite only because I think it allows for better aeration. It works just fine too.

I use perlite only. i mix it using a 1 to .8 ratio. This is how:
you need a digital scale to do this
1. Take the container you will be using and place it on the scale. Tare the weight (basically zeroing it out.
2. Place your perlite in the container and note the weight.
3. Multiply the weight by .8. This is how much water you add.
4. Add weight of perlite and number when multiplied by .8.
For example:

weight of perlite is 100 grams
100 X .8 = 80
Add 100 + 80 = 180
5. Use a spray bottle and spray the perlite while it is on the scale until it reaches the total.

I also poke 1 or 2 holes in the container for air circulation.
Works great!
