    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

How did it all begin? (your stories)

I have always had a fascination with all things animals, granted I was never really a cat or dog type of person given the fact that I grew up around 7 dogs and a couple of cats. I was the girl who would catch and touch anything that moved, some things even the boys were too afraid to even go near. I was a big tom boy and it was rare to see me hang out with girls as I was always out in the desert chasing some lizard or snake. I have caught almost everything that you can catch out here save for the hots, those I would just look at. The first herp I was ever able to keep was a green iggy named Dragon. He was my reward for helping my mum at the pet store she co-opened with her best friend at the time. Fortunately she worked there for a couple of years, so I was able to earn a bit of experience there. Dragon was one of the sexiest iguanas I have ever known! He was super tame, and was very social, allowing me to take him out to educate the neighborhood kids. I had him for a better part of 10 years before he ran away on homecoming night my senior year(he was allowed free range of the yard anyways and was allowed outside all the time). I'm not sure what spooked him, but I was never able to find him, until spring, but by then it had been too late, very sad time for me. I didn't get anything else until I imported my husband out here :) and he came with a gorgeous boy rtb by the name of arlo. We didn't get anything else until I had our second child, and have been growing my collection since. We, at the moment, have 9 snakes, 2 lizards, a trapdoor spider, a cat and fish. I'm pretty sure that will change in the near futrure lol. Whew! That was a novel for me.

For me the hobby was kick started when I was about 5, one of my neighbors found a pretty good group of salamanders in their window well, of course they were absolutely awesome to me. From there (Minot ND) my family moved to Incirlik Adana Turkiye where I would spend most of my free time chasing and catching lizards, the coolest of which were a type of Agama. We moved back to the states when I was 11 and I became familiar with the pet shops and started my collection initially with Ball Pythons, quickly moving to Boas (with a stretch of Burms along the way).
