• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

how do I report an inappropriate thread?

Every now and then I come across a post or thread that is quite obviously either misplaced or wholly inappropriate for this site. Like a "join my gmail list" or something. I can't find any way to have it flagged for the mod to remove it- is there? Should I just ignore it and wait? Or do I send a PM to the mod?

A pm to the mod of that forum is enough. You can see the Forum mods to the right of each forum when you click the fauna classifieds logo at the top of the page, or the "Fauna Classifieds" Link just above the User CP.

For the record, we (forum moderators) get email notifications of all new threads (and in many/most cases, new posts) within our forums. Speaking only for myself, it is not necessary for members to report posts within one of my forums because I check emails before doing anything else online, and get popup notification of new emails when I am here. The most commonly targeted forum now has several moderators covering, in order to eliminate those posts as quickly as possible.
If the forum does not list a specific moderator, they fall under the jurisdiction of the site mods. (As Alicia mentioned, please check the index page before sending those messages)

If I can get ALL forums covered by moderators, I will re-enable the REPORT A POST function. Without a specific mod assigned to a forum, all those notices were coming to ME, and I just got tired of getting them.

OK, had a volunteer for most of the vacant forums, so I have re-enabled the Report A Post function. That is the red triangle with the exclamation mark inside in the posters info area to the left of each post they make. Clicking on that icon will send a report to the moderator of the forum the post is within.

Awesome! I thought I remembered a report this post function, but couldn't locate it the last few times I needed it. Thanks!
