• Responding to email notices you receive.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

How do you prioritize buyers?

I totally get that the first person to pay gets the animal, but here's the situation I'm referring to:

Buyer 1 emails saying they want the animal, and I email back with the total with shipping and my paypal info. Before I receive payment from Buyer 1, a second person emails me saying they want said animal and will send payment right away. How long do I wait for payment from Buyer 1 before offering the animal to Buyer 2? I realize that some people do not get emails instantly, and I don't want to upset anyone or end up with 2 payments so I was just curious what everyone does. I know buyers don't always send payment when they say they will...

Thanks for the input. I hope I explained the situation well enough.

How long has it been? Did buyer one give any sort of hint as to a time frame for when they'd send payment?

I'd let person #2 know that the animal is potentially spoken for (pending receipt of payment), and that you'll definitely be contacting them if things fall through.

A serious buyer knows that they have a very small time window in which to act. If someone tells me that they want the animal, I expect some money in my account within minutes not hours. Time IS money.

I agree, you can easily not accept the payment, and they can just take it back. Or you refund them or whatever. I would maybe send an email to person one telling them your exact situation. Tell them they have 10 minutes or something. I mean, if I say I want an animal and will pay, then go to the store...it would be my fault if the animal was gone when I got home.

The first buyer didn't specify a timeframe for payment, but its only been a few hours since I emailed him. I ended up telling the second buyer I had to wait 24hrs before I sold the animal to her. Does that seem fair? Next time I guess I should put a time limit for how long I will hold without payment. I'm just not sure how to word it. Any thoughts?

Just to clarify, I was speaking about whoever might send money after the animal is already sold.

Tell EVERYONE you deal with right from the start. Say "this animal will be sold to the first person who sends the money. If you happen to paypal and the animal is already sold, I will refund you right away."...you could even go further to explain yourself as to why you do this.

Good luck!

I've always sent payment right away, but I didn't know if that was the norm. Fortunately, Buyer 2 is purchasing a group so she's going to pay for the ones that are definitely available and then the other ones after 24hrs if they are still for sale. It's funny...I've had the animals in question available for quite some time, and then I got a bunch of emails at once.

Just don't go making a BOI post if the first buyer doesn't pay because you lost the second buyer. If they were my customers, they wouldn't even have that long. Your situation is why many breeders have a TOS.

Serious buyers, have the money ready when they start shopping to at least put down a deposit. :shrug01: 24 hours is too long without a deposit.:ack2:

When it rains it pours(?)!

I guess I need to write a TOS and let you guys proofread it. I'm probably being too nice:). This is the first year I've produced enough to bother with selling online, and I keep thinking up new potential issues. Luckily the animals in question at the moment are female BP morphs, so it's not a big deal to me if they don't sell. I could keep them til they're adults and not be at all upset about it.
