    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

How much do I ask?

A friend of mine is getting rid of his son's ball python, due to his son moving off to college and since I like snakes he asked if it could come live by me and have me find a home for it. 4-5 foot. super friendly and well taken care of. comes with the entire enclosure set-up.

What is a reasonable price to ask for a good snake (normal colors) with a complete set up?

If it's a male, you'll be lucky to get $50 with all the stuff.
Maybe $75, to a CL buyer that just wants a snake.

Really? That surprises me. I paid more than that for my lights on my set-up!

True but you really cant expect to get much when selling on CL. Most people are trying to find the cheapest, best deal. A good amount of people that are looking for a pet dont really consider the quality and money put in on the other persons side. And there are plenty of people who basically just give away certain items on CL. Harald was in a good range, but id list it higher cause you will always get people offering lower.

Well, if this ball python is a friend's, like she said, one probably shouldn't assume that HER set up is for a ball python...or even a snake. Maybe she keeps bearded dragons, not that it really matters.
It's easy to forget that some people just keep snakes as pets...and the most common method of doing so, especially at that level, is with a tank and lights. Think for a moment about where the belly heat comes from for snakes in the wild - in most cases, it is radiant heat from a big light (the sun), isn't it?

Anyway, to the original question - gender can make a difference in pricing. A local keeper that breeds BPs, or is thinking about starting, will be more interested in a female than normal male...and the increased desirability means a higher price. It still won't be a lot: anywhere from $75-150, depending on size and appearance. THAT person, though, most likely won't want the set up; so you can try to sell it separately.
Selling it as an unsexed pet snake, with everything - figure on $50-100 if you really want to get rid of it. Feel free to price it higher...but don't expect a big response.

My lights are for my python. He has an UTH, as well as two lights on top. He has a daytime basking lamp and also a red night lamp. These help keep the temp levels where I need them to be. I live in a state that has been below freezing for the last 4 months and have a $200 a month heat bill, warmth isn't something that comes naturally around here. I fully expect I won't need the daytime basking lamp in the summer when he can be near a window, and most likely not the nighttime lamp either.

I'm not a breeder, I'm a pet owner. And because he sits in my living room, we don't have him in a tub that would probably hold the heat/humidity nice. So we need to make a few provisions.
