In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

How to decide

I have come to the end of the breeding season. My last leo's hatched on 31/1/2006. Now the time has come to decide who goes, and who will stay behind. I am also attending my first show next weekend and hoping for some sales.

The problem is everytime it open the tubs I see another gecko that i want to keep. Is it always so difficult or does it get easier with time? They just keep looking better and better everyday.

Any tips for the show will be welcomed.

Thanks

paul

You just need to give yourself a limit. You have to think ahead. If you can keep 10 babies and you have 20, then you need to sort through them and pick the ones that will either a) be a future part of your breeding projects or b) catch your eye. However, if you can keep all 20 of them, then keep them. Just holdback the ones you think would be the most vital to your project(s). I've always that that it was the smartest thing to set myself a limit before the year begins, lol.

It gets harder...lol

For the show, just get ready to answer a lot of questions! I was so worn out after my first "big show" from explaining leo care/genetics/stories.

Best of luck at the show.

I have set the limit, but everytime i feed them i see another one that looks better. I will post some pics later.

thanks for the replies.

This is so true....LOL Especially when you get the kids at your table asking 50 questions, but at least they are asking questions and not just buying whatever they can afford. I give them credit for that.

Yeah it's really tough to let the little ones go. I'm not holding back any from last year. I almost held back the little patty albino that we hatched, but I decided with Patty albinos being so weak in the gene pool as is, I think i'm going to get fresh blood to expand that project. Hopefully some ones with carrot tail too! :)

If it doesn't benefit your projects now, then sell them. Because you can then use that money to get something that WILL benefit your projects :)

What should i put in the deli tubs with the gecko's on display for a substrate? I was thinking of using Cartlon Rolls, but I am worried that the gecko's will hide underneath the paper. What is everyone using for this.

I think most use some form of paper towel. If you want to get really fancy you could put colored gravel on the bottom. I'd just recommend paper towel tho, Easy and friendly for people just to take them home that way too! :)

Ditto

I use the clear containers and don't put anything in the bottom. I found that the geckos really display well on a black table clothe. With out anything on the bottom of the containers, you can image how much they stand out with black underneath them...plus, there is nothing for them to hide under. Once a gecko is purchased I then put a paper towel trimmed to fit in the container for the geckos comfort :)
