In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

How to sell a low dollar ball python for more...

Add any of the following to your low dollar BP classified to double or triple your asking price:

1. "Possible Het." (Can't prove you weren't lied to)
2. "Bred to a 4,5,6k mate" (Can't prove you weren't lied to either)
3. "Something really unusual going on..." (Add this verbage to the description to really trick people into seeing something that really doesn't exisit)

There are others that make me laugh. There are others that are plain disgusting that people try.

So with that said, I have the following Ball python for sale:

Example ad: Normal female possible het. Ultramel bred to an Ultramel Banana. She definitely has something special going on in her pattern, but I need quick money so I'm willing to sell for $300 for a liver transplant. Oh, willing to trade also, I guess the liver transplant can wait a while if I get the right trade. Get her before shezzz gone!!

What is your favorite classified scheme??

you forgot a step,

disappear once you receive the transaction under the guise of having a failed liver/ family emergancy

Correct! I forgot the ol' disappear act afterwards. Perfect point Margaret.

I always love how they desperately need money, but some how a "trade" makes things better... huh??

One of the best was an ad for "selling off ball python collection, getting out of the hobby". Ok, so they are done with things, fine. Then they follow up with "ball python trades welcome". Double Huh??:shrug01:

I really have to agree with you on this one. But my personal favorite is the whole "Look at this amazing Dinker" im sorry but 99% of the time it just looks like decent looking normal. Remember though that this fresh $10 import is special and worth $100+ just because.

Careful everyone...USPS Money order is actually the safest thing to send by far, since it would be a FELONY for me to scam you if you send me a money order from the post office for a product. (I no longer accept paypal, and not everyone likes Google Check out. So USPS Money orders are my way to go 90% of the time hehe)

Now Wells Fargo or any other form of money order or wire method....BAAAAAD

Agreed...I've purchased a few snakes from people by USPS money order. All very reputable breeders who choose not to accept PayPal for very understandable reasons. I actually take the time to research who I'm buying from as well, so I've had little reason to ever believe I was being scammed.

I'm with Joshua, I see the "amazing dinker" ads so incredibly overdone, generally to try to sell off surplus males or imported babies. It really stinks too, because when someone really does have an amazing dinker, everyone is inclined to skip over the ad thinking it's just another normal! Or, even worse, the people who end up getting suckered into buying the supposed "dinker" then sell the babies as "super deluxe amazing dinker offspring!"

Im the same way, USPS MO or cash in person.

I think my favorite is "look at this color"!! And then there is a pic of maybe a pastel with the saturation turned up so high that the even the blacks turn purple.

Check out my AMAZING pastel:

He's yours for only 6,000$ :)

Grr! I hate it when people change the photos like that! I like to play with the contrast for my breeders because sometimes lighting is weird, but, snakes that I sell I try to make sure they are unedited photos unless its something I had as a breeder and then decided to sell. Then, sometimes all I have are the photos where I had turned the contrast up slightly.

Great comments everyone!!

I guess there is a clear distinction between a USPS Money order versus one you pick up at a grocery store.

Great picture Lauren, its a perfect example!! Those pictures that have been so tweeked you can't trust them, or pictures that are so dark you can't see anything... usually followed by "sorry for the crappy picture, oh by the way buy my $1,200 snake". You can't afford a $60 camera and you are trying to sell $1,200 snakes:shrug01:. Heck go borrow the neighbors camera.

A dark picture is a great way to hide: burns, scale rot, nose rub, kinks, under sized, etc.

The snake shows up with said defects and the seller tells you it was visible in the picture and it was your fault for not noticing it...what:angry:

Love to see those "INCREDIBLE DINKERS", or the "fresh import with a funky pattern". Especially from the folks who sell the "unopened" bags of babies. Should I really believe that those babes have not been picked through when your next ad shows the "specials" you got in? I picked up a couple females that look just like a few of the "Woma types" you see in ads that are WC. I'd rather spend the extra time AND money to find the right breeder and animal for what I'm trying to do.

I like how there 300-350g males have sperm plugs and breeding already and the 400-500g females will be ready this season with no problem. Its possible but just a way to get them sold faster. I was going to say the mite thing but Shane beat me to it.

How about combining Bradley & Ronnie's ad into one:

Example Ad:

Attention! Serious investors...freshly imported mystery bag of unopened ball pythons. Last time I opened one of these bags it was chuck full of sperm spewing 300g males with wicked crazy patterns. Don't miss out, this is how the big breeders became famous. Strike gold! Snooze, you loozzze.

Great question!!!

I have been wondering "if" and "when" someone would finally ask this question Eddie. Seems irresponsible to start a thread pointing out "how to scam" others??

I can and will answer that question, but first I am hoping someone else besides me can explain why a thread like this would be created.
