In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

How would you handle this refund?

I'm not quite sure which way to go about with the refund.
Here are the details. I had a BP for sale. I was contacted by a buyer and he agreed to send a MO to cover the snake plus the cost of shipping. I told other prospective buyers that the snake was on hold and if the MO never showed, it would go to the next in line. The MO arrived today and I emailed the buyer to confirm the shipping address and said I would ship tomorrow for Wednesday delivery. Then I proceeded to email the other 2 buyers who were waiting in line that the BP was sold since the MO arrived.
I now get a reply that the guy wants his money refunded and not to ship the snake since he has changed his mind.
The MO is in my name. Can I send it back unsigned? Will he be able to get the money back for it? Do I cash it and pay for a new MO to be sent to him minus a 10% fee for cancelling? Do I cash it and send him a personal check for the full amount so I do not need to pay for a MO?
Unfortunately, I never mentioned what would happen if he he changed his mind at the last minute. I didn't think that would happen. I re-emailed the 2 people that were next in line saying it became available once again but have not gotten a response yet.
How would you handle this situation?

Just stick in an envelope and mail it back to him. Situation totally sucks on your end but be happy he didn't get the snake and THEN decide he had buyers remorse and try to get a refund at that time. :(

I agree with Daniel, Just send it back. he shouldn't have a problem getting his money back out of it, and even if he does he is the one who backed out of the deal. You shouldn't have to go through any more trouble than you already have for him cancelling the deal. Also, see the thread about follow up after a no sale.

Unless the gentleman had a really good reason for changing his mind (family tragedy, lost his job etc...) my opinion is that he bought himself a snake. At the very least there should be an amount considered as a non refundable deposit that is retained for your aggravation. This is a consumated deal. You are definitely under no obligation to simply cheerfully refund this guy
