In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

howdy from S. of Houston

Hello and welcome Len, faunaclassifieds is a great place to meet a lot of knowledgeable people.

Welcome, neighbor! This is a great site, read through the forums. And here's hoping you won't get flooded in the next couple days.

thanks for the greetz

DHL is not delivering today due to high water (elsewhere).

nothing alive coming but...

I have been obessesed with Corals since living in Fla and working at Everglades Wonder Gardens...

I was very saddened over the incident at Cincy Zoo
deja vu from The death of a young boy at Miami sepentarium and Dr Bill had to shoot his Croc.. the boy had already died. Bill was never really the same.
...

no winners

....
I am seeking info on largest Coral (Tx or Fl)currently being kept..
I was careless and lost a biggie- who was a champ eater and I had finally solved to food issue too. I hope he shows back up and/or gets to pass on his outstanding genes .

I was going to 'tube' him and get closer to accurate length... the day after he got out.

It was time to clean his enclosure --and I had showed him to someone the night before..

best conservative guess was ~36 inches-- by far ~double in size of any I had ever seen or kept.. SHAME ON ME!!!

my food 'secret' ..night skinks- which most know but until recently I was not catching enough --then for best place to always get some- I NOW avoid ringnecks -which was likely the reason last one stopped eating.
aside from the skinks I did get lucky and found a 15 gram 17 inch ribbon snake-- which he ate (~20 min.) so a few of those would equal a bunch on night skinks... I must say he ate a lot more & more often than I expected..
".... could have been a contender'
at EWG we kept 2 to 4 at a time-- dropped in occasional skinks but many were released when looking thin..never saw one eat while I was there..
I also (albeit foolishly) had no fear of handling several at a time and did that on a daily basis ( no wonder they rarely ate-lol) BUT after not handling any for years and getting one so very large- I no longer want to handle them...years after I moved away..
btw I never handled when young folks were present- ( mostly to show adults that getting bit is very rare & killing them is NOT NEEDED)
.. one of the last recorded deaths 'attributed to bite from a Coral happen in Bonita Springs-(home of EWG)- two guys (maby homeless) we 'messing' with one and BOTH got bit.. they were likely drunk- and the death may have been connected with a bad heart. . but in any case no fault of the snake IMHO.

my pics are on other PC- will post a few later..

anyone interested in trading live food(skinks) in return for CB Grey Banded King(s)(alterna)
I can prolly provide 6 -10 a week..I contacted lady head herper at Houston zoo and got no reply(before my coral escaped) I had considered giving it to them before I saw what a great feeder he was and how relatively easy I was finding skinks.. (NEVER knew a corals to eat anoles or geckos-or mamals) I tried scenting an anole- with previous Coral - no success.

My Fav Not-Hot has to be the INDIGO--
had a young 5.5 footer while in FL.. and yeah- that one escaped too..lol
At EWG he had a near record monster. easy 8 foot.
at one feeding it (never sexed it) ate two 'nests' of small biddies- 18 in total. about as fast as we could hand them to it.. HAS to be one of the easiest snakes to feed.... and you guys tell me.. is it true that (at least Fl) indigo is known to almost NEVER bite a human?? I have picked up two in Fl. and aside from a scary act.... were not interested in biting.. ALSO if you every made a visit to Miami Serp. at the 'end' a nice Indigo was shown and handled freely by any guest who wanted. most kids were eager- most adults not so much.. Bill told the visitors that indigoes don't bite-- good enough for me... amazing how long Bill lived-- 104 iirc-- those daily sub injections of venom cocktail apparently does not lower life span- he outlived two or 3 wives- I saw him over the years with two.
and they were by his side and hands on ...

end rant

len

he ate 7 in one feeding..hardly ever refused food.
that IMO is also rare ..

current record is ~48 inches in both states- and very likely measured dead.
Tx record is from my area BTW.
