• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

  • IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!! About the Google Adsense ads being displayed

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I will be SOOOO glad when this stage of things is done. It seems like every time I turn around, somebody else is posting notices in multiple forums and classifieds. I'm really trying to not notice, because I understand the potential impact of the bill...but (IMO) it is getting a bit ridiculous.

To those of you that have STOPPED sending me emails on the subject:
THANK YOU!!

UGH.. I agree. again, great cause.. but why do people have to start NEW threads in each category as well?

I just got home from work, and there are 6 pages of new stuff. at LEAST half of those are the hg 669 stuff.

there are now.. what.. 3 different postings in EVERY section?

Yes, I agree... It's getting pretty ridiculous. I just had to DELETE a mess of threads someone posted in a bunch of forums. Now watch the nasty-gram I get claiming I'm heartless and uncaring about this issue....

:iagree:I hear you Harald, I have been getting 2-3 e-mails a day. It's the one woman that is sending me something from different sources that is getting old.

Nah, I disagree with you guys. I'd rather see people who are over passionate about these type of situations than under passionate. I can just skip over anything I don't want to read. Hopefully they do more than just blast the forums though. Kinda like preaching to the choir right?

That's why I said I was trying not to notice.
Still, there are appropriate ways to do it...Make a post in legislative section? Great. General Herp Talk. Sure, why not. Both of them? OK. But coming in and making the same post in anywhere from 12-24 sections is uncalled for, and when there are a small group of people doing it, it gets old fast.

So, I've been at work & on the range...can someone tell me what happened with it?
Have they made a decision or are we sitting around and waiting for that now?

Thanks Kevin! I didn't have much time to sort through all the threads (thanks "Jasin") to find the answer.
WooHoo--now I can spend MORE money on my little babies instead of worrying about the money I have invested in what I've got!

And I thought I was the only one that didn't interpret the hearing as a clear cut victory

Update: Status of HR 669 still unclear, unconfirmed
I've been on the phone with the office of the House Subcommittee on Insular Affairs, Oceans and Wildlife and also that of Rep. Bordallo (D-Guam), the author of HR 669, where I spoke with Blake Androff in the communications office.

Both said that as far as they knew, HR 669 was not dead.

I mentioned the report from USARK that it is, and Androff asked me to wait and speak with Rep. Bordallo's press secretary, Matthew Mateo, who was out of the office until Monday.

I'm a pet columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle/SFGate.com and I had hoped to have an article about this ready to be filed today, to run after the weekend. My deadline was 4 PM Eastern Time today, so he gave me Mateo's email address, saying that he was checking email on his Blackberry even though he was out of the office.

Nonetheless, I didn't get a response. I also left messages for a few other committee members, but apparently DC is a ghost town on Fridays.

I filed my originally scheduled column on a different topic, and will follow up on Monday and try to get an official statement or confirmation of the status of the bill from Rep. Bordallo's office at that time.

When I know more, you'll know more.

Are you thinking Muffdaddy? That's a different Nick (Ignacio).
Is Nick Nistico fat, too?...I didn't know he got involved in this stuff.

Nick Ignacio was the fatty who showed up at the hearing in Arlington County. There was a meeting to determine whether or not the county should ban venomous reptiles, and he showed up to "defend" the issue.

Needless to say, the country swiftly banned them anyway. Later on, when the venomous snakes were discovered in a motel room in Fairfax (the neighboring county), the local news interviewed Nick because they suspected the snakes might be his. The guy from the news crew told me that Nick turned out to be such a bumbling idiot, they never aired the footage.
