In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hey
I got an idea for a humid hide and I wanted to see what you guys thought. I wanted something a little more natural looking than a margarine tub so I was trying to figure out a way to glue stones onto the outside of the tub. I think it would look cool, but do you have any suggestions on using glue or what kind of glue I should use, or any tips on the rocks. I was figuring they at least shouldn't be small enough to swallow, in case they came off somehow. I would appreciate your opinions and suggestions. I need a humid hide right now so I could move my cave to the cool side. Right now she doesn't have anything over there and someone told me even if she was hot she wouldn't go cool off without anywhere to hide over there.

Thank you

Awsome idea! although be warned, Rocks + Glue = frustration because the different make ups of the rock and different typrs of glue may not work togther. hot glue will most likley not work....I would suggest a non- toxic apoxy (sp?) or a ceramic glue.

I haven't used this for reptiles before, but I have made caves for my fish. I used a flower pot and covered it with aquarium silicone and either pushed rocks onto it, or rolled it in sand. I used this for fish, not reptiles, but I think the priciple would be the same. Aquarium silicone is supposed to be completely nontoxic once dry. It is messy though, I suggest wearing gloves to make clean up easier.

Somebody on Kingsnake tried this idea, but I forgot who it was! Maybe someone can identify. I saved the picture though because it was very neatly constructed. The bag of river rocks was only a couple bucks, and the Ziploc container was easily accessible from the bottom. Here's a picture:

Someone on fauna (can't remember who) had a really cool idea by using styrofoam covered in grout I think? And you could carve it out and glue pieces together.....anyway it was really cool looking!

I've been saving pieces of styrofoam.....now if I could only stop the clock...for just a little more time! LOL

I like that rock covered hide! The major problem I see with it, is is you feed crickets/roaches, they are going to climb and hide in the cracks. But it sure looks pretty cool.

I haven't made any of the styrofoam rocks yet, but I have plans to! ;)

That rock hide is a cool idea! Unfortunately, if I tried to make that, I would probably end up glued to everything around me..LOL I'm a little clumsy! Anybody want to make some and I will buy them from you?

Thanks!
