In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My girlfriend purchased a gala red female bearded dragon from Hurricane exotics, Adam G. for my birthday with intentions to breed. Upon receiving the dragon we noticed that she had a swollen wrist and about two inches of her tail was bent, and she walked rather odd. We asked him about it and he told us it was all nothing to worry about, she had had it since she was a baby. We trusted his word, but after a short time she stopped eating and began sleeping all the time. After doing some research of our own concluded that she could have MBD (metabolic bone disease) Once again we asked him about it, and wondered if we should see a vet. He strongly discouraged us to do that and told us she couldn't possibly have it. We couldn't ignore what was going on with her and decided to take her to the vet. His diagnosis was that she had a severe case of MBD. I tried contacting Adam G. From Hurricane exotics on several occasions after that and he never replied. He frequently posts to kingsnake and I would like to discourage anyone from buying from him. I would hate for this to happen to anyone else.

Any chance you've got the person's full name?
A quick look indicated that he is the former owner of Atlanta Bearded Dragons - I found a few positive comments online; but nothing that referenced more than the first name, Adam. His site registration is private, so that didn't help.

Yeah after this happened, I searched on line for some kind of review on Adam G, and Hurricane exotics and could find nothing.

Were your conversations via email, PM, or Facebook messaging? If so, would recommend posting them here to help solidify your side of the story.

From what you are describing it does sound like a straight forward case of MBD and one that is quite advanced. Luckily, it's not a death sentence but obviously not the breed-able animal you thought you were purchasing. For the breeder to not only claim it couldn't possibly be MBD and advise against a vet visit is atrocious and am glad you ignored his advice.

Don't want to side track this thread but if you want tips/guidance on helping a beardie with MBD please feel free to send me a message. I have rehabilitated several in the last few years.

I'm not at all saying that this situation is OK or acceptable in any way... but I recently had a transaction with this person as well. When I searched, I could not find anything either, and decided to go with my gut and purchase the GTP I wanted.

In my case, the transaction went well. I actually meant to post a thread about it but never got around to it. I paid for the snake, it was shipped promptly, and I recieved a perfect, very healthy and beautiful GTP.

Having said that.... if Adam shipped you a dragon with MBD, that's not acceptable and the right thing does need to be done. Having had a good transaction with him, I know that it's not all bad with this business and that hopefully he will come through and make it right for you.

This was the conversation. He never responded. I sent him a email saying the same thing about the vet visit, and he never responded to that either. I doubt he will make this right, but I'm glad she is out of his hands.

Just out of curiosity, what was the date of the first set of text messages? I was trying to figure out how much time passed between receiving the animal and going to the vet. It sounds like this was obviously an issue when you received her, so I'm not questioning that she was sent in poor health. The seller should really fix this...

Not to put this off topic too much, but am I reading it right that you put her near one of your current males this soon?

I recommend posting a scan of your vet's assessment. It will really solidify your case.

Just a heads up. Adam hasn't tried to contact me at all. He has just posted some dragons for sale in the classified section.

Thanks for posting, was considering purchasing a pair of ball pythons from him but changed my mind as a result of this post. Hopefully he will read this and realize that poor customer service equals a loss of sales. Good luck with your bearded dragon.

It seems odd that he's been a member here for 18 months and has 5 posts - 5 classifieds all placed today.

I wonder if something happened to him at KS.

Mike, you never did post the vet report. I'm not saying you have to, but it couldn't hurt.

A week ago Hurricane Exotics posted a 4 mo old silkback female on craigslist.

He is still very much active and, if what op said is true, needs to do something to make it right.

When ads are deleted, they are no longer tallied in the post count.
Prior to HExotics, he used AtlBeardedDragons.

If this guy was happy with the health of the animal then he wouldn't have minded you taking her to the vets as it would've been no money out of his pocket. I'm sorry your buy wasn't what you were hoping for, hopefully he'll make it right to you.

Thank You Harald for reminding me to defend my case in such a matter. Several Points I must Point Out in my defense in which took so long in a delay in response on this thread/forum. Before so, I must say that I am NOT new to the business/industry/hobby of Breeding & Selling reptiles, pets, or animals. I have vended for years for Repticon in the previous years before we sold ABD, wife and I split up and relocated back in South Florida with only the Money in my pocket to re-establish my business under a different name, re-incorporate myself, as well as my stock/inventory in order to do so. I frown upon people who do NOT obtain the correct knowledge as a requirement for the proper husbandry in owning the animals in which they intend to breed, collect, or own as pets. I have dealt with umpteen amounts of people trying to scam, manipulate, and fraudulently make blame over the years. Which is why I, and mostly all of us have “shipping terms” posted in our Ad’s or listed on our website as a disclaimer to the consumer in which they Purchase and animal, they are purchasing/AGREE under the terms of your policy. My Policy is, as well stated under “Terms” on my site:
Payments
.All orders must be paid in full prior to shipping
.We accept Paypal, for shipments, checks and Cash for local pick up. Payment must clear prior to shipping order.
.All animals are guaranteed to arrive 100% alive and healthy. If you are unhappy with your order please contact us immediately within 24 hours of the recieval of your shipment. Pictures must be provided of any damaged/defected package or animal (no refunds accepted, only exchange of equal or lesser value).
***None of these which have been changed/altered since the site has been open.
Buyer paid for the Dragon on JULY 28th, 2013. Dragon was SHIPPED OUT/ARRIVED early that week (of the 1st of Aug.)
Buyer waited 2 weeks in concern of contacting us that there was an issue. Which at the time of shipment there was NO Respiratory Infection (which I am well aware of the signs & symptoms of…) and the swollen wrist, which the buyer saw in the Pics prior to purchasing, was explained from the get go. I purchased this dragon from someone locally whom had the Correct UVB/UVA, Gigantic Set-up, which all the correct suppliments/diet knowledge to convince me that this Dragon was Extremely well taken care of. Which is what I seek when I purchase an animal for myself, or one I am going to retail to one of my personal customers under my name representing myself.
Of course if it was 2 or 3 Days After the animal arrived I would gladly entertain a request in assisting the business transaction of going well, as it was originally intended to do so. This circumstance was 2 weeks LATER. And anyone who knows Dragons, knows if not kept/housed properly, what can happen at a two week period with disease.
I was never provided with a Copy of the VET bill from this buyer. ONLY a message saying that they “purchased this Dragon for breeding purposes, and they were unhappy she’s not waiving her arms and bowing her head submissively to the Male”. When I instructed that she had just needed some time to be introduced to Males and for them to personally research on Breeding Habits. They instinctively started pointing fingers at this particular animal’s health WEEKS LATER.
In previous endeavors, I have had people say “My Dragon Died”, and never got a picture of the animal BELLY SIDE UP to justify that it is Truly DEAD. All in all, I have been swindled enough, and the attempts I could go on and on about.
I am truly a very Nice guy, care more than anything for my animals (whether it’s a Rat that I have to feed off NOT by choice, but for the snakes own good or a sick animal in NEED).
As far as for NOT responding to this punctually or cordially sooner…. Was due to the fact I am NOT frequently On Fauna Classifieds, hence the amount of “POSTS I HAVE OVER THE DURATION OF TIME I’VE BEEN A MEMBER AS HExotics”.
All in all,
All of my animals I own, propose for Sale, or intend to rehome are all in utmost health Standards (Fed properly, and frequently. Have proper space and sized enclosure. Handled regularly and observed properly.) That I, as a licensed breeder and business owner seem fit and up to Par based upon my experience of 7 years. I would WORK ANYTHING OUT with anyone, as long mutually and respectfully standing by and abiding by the shipping/buying terms in which we are both agreeing to.
