In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

The links below are of some of South Floridas news and weather stations. Please if you have friends or family down here do not try calling once it hits we all will need as much free space on the cells as possible for Emergancy services. Thank you and please pass the link to this thread and forum on to any and all who might have family or friends here.

Probably the best of all is to down load this one and go to its weather map.

Hmm..

I'm about 30 min. From Ft. Lauderdale and as of now it's supposed to hit vero beach. This would be nice as I'd only get tropical storm conditions but real bad for people in that area. Regardless I'll be praying for everyone. Good luck everyone!

Thanks first to Brian for getting this up. its been Hell lol trying to post for obvious reasons.

It is 8:21 am Saturday and so far we are ok I even was able to have a shower this morning and breakfast and most important Coffee.

I spoke to a few of the other guys around here and all were able to secure thier animals and protect them. Thank God we had more then enough time to prepare. All the hots from the guuys i have spoken to were bagged and locked down tight which was my biggest worry..

Hope to talk to you guys again soon and good luck everyone.

Our prayers are with all of y'all. I hope everyone comes through with minimal hassle and damage, please continue to report in.
It was an excellent idea to bag and lock the hots to prevent unanticipated harm.
It would probably be a good idea to make coffee ahead and store in a thermos in case of electricity failure, a miserable day can be made much more so by not starting out right.

Sounds like it may be a long night for you Florida guys. I'm glad that most of you are responsible enough to secure hots like that.Take it easy guys,be safe...and good luck for those who choseto ride out the storm. Wishing you the best from Arkansas.

Right now in Tampa, it's bright sunshine with a nice breeze going on.... I wish every day was like this.... but that's for NOW.... by tomorrow morning, we should be in the middle of torential downpours and lots of wind (I was even thinking of getting flood insurance, and I'm on the third floor!!.... lol)....

I have a huge thermos of coffee made and my new Wamena had a full shed last night and snapped up a mouse this morning, so, all in all, it's been a pretty good day so far (for me)....

I hope all you guys in the Southeast are doing ok.... Charley was big enough, but Frances is the size of Texas!!.... Be safe and good luck.... My good thoughts are with you....

Neil

Reporting from Port St. John, FL...

Breezy conditions with spots of rain. One huge wind gust bent a 1/2" steel rod and blew my privacy fence gate open. A tree here and there have begun to snap. I suspect these were trees damaged from "Charley". Power has been disrupted several times but only breifly.

Snake bags are labeled and ready for occupants should the need arise.

2:17pm Reporting from Margate, FL

I live in Parkland, FL but our power went out so I brought my snakes with me to a friends house in Margate, FL. Winds upwards of 50mph, rainy, tree's down, and debris everywhere. The eye of the storm hasn't even hit landfall yet! Luckly we have a generator and tons of food and so on! We'll see how it goes I'm hoping it doesn't get to rough and that everyone stays safe. Good luck to everyone!

I'm currently in the edge of the Eye as I post this. Hoping it continues NW rather than W so the thicker part of the backside misses us.

We are ok lost some shingles and our carpet a few items of furniture from flooding. All the animals survived and are now back in thier cages safe and sound.

I hate to bring it up but IVAN is still out thier and I thought i should bring up some of what I have found out for people who may need help after any of these storms.

Fema will if you qualify remburse you for certain items such as a generator or your insurance deductable and other items.

When FEMA arives you will need.
Copy of either your drivers license or utility bill with your name and address on it.
Copy of your mortgage or rental agreement
Insurance paperwork.

As a Restoration Construction person for almost 20 years I can give this information to help.

1 take pictures of everything before the storm Inside and Outside of your house. Do not forget your cars.

2 make a list of all contents in your fridge you probably will loose it.

3 Get all your reciepts together if you have them of anything of value.

If you flood out get the carpet and pad out ASAP and take pictures of the flooding and damage to all areas and items.

Mold will grow very fast and can cause you even more damage.

Bleach is a good item to use in a spray bottle and wipe everything down after. Floors , walls , ceiling.

Any other questions please ask I know im forgetting so much its just been a long time since i have slept well.. FPL took 10 days to get our powere back on.

Rich with so many affected by these storms and more to come unfortunately it appears can you make this a sticky so all can check in when its over so we know our friends are ok.

Thank You
Scott Bice

Thanks for the suggestions Scott. I live in Mobile, AL, which is currently at the center of the projection cone. I was here during Frederick (Sep. 12, 1979), and I'm not looking forward to Ivan hitting the Gulf Coast. Since my Dad passed away 3 yrs. ago, my Mom lives with me. She is completely bed ridden since a six week hospital stay back in July and August. She can't travel, so we'll be staying here with my snakes and other animals. Wish us luck, and good luck to anyone else in Ivan's path.

Mark

Scott... I'm glad you finally made it to the other side.... NOW, we have to worry about "Our Fearless Leader".... It seems that Ivan is going to be right up his butt in a couple of days....

Rich.... batten down the hatches, buddy, and if you need to send your animals out of harms way.... I will always volunteer to be their hotel host for awhile.... just let me know....

Neil

Hey Scott,

Glad to see you are still around lol! I got wacked pretty good at my place. 50% of the dock is gone as is the fence in the backyard and probably 50% of the landscaping that had any size to it was either uprooted or snapped off. We have 40' seagrapes in the front and they were snapped like twigs and ended up on the roof....no major visual damage though. The animals were fine and we will not have electricity until the 17th so that kind of sucks. But looking at what just happened from Ivan, it doesn't seem all that bad at my place......

Hey Matt, Glad your ok. Call the FPL number you know 1-800-4ou-tage and put in my number you will see im not suppose to have power till { In robots voice} Sunday September 18th at 11:45 pm.
lol. The crews from around the Nation and Canada are busting thier butts and getting us up fast. MY thanks to them and the FPL line crews.
