Hybino or not a hybino?

Hello this is Zach from Diefs Geckos. I'm new to the forum. I have a tangerine Albino female that I think is a hybino but some people aren't agreeing so here is a picture of her as a juvenile before she was bred because her colors did fade a little after the cool down. This is the same female pictured in another thread.

I don't breed Leos so don't know much about the "names" of morphs/cultivars, or much at all about the genetics to get them there, so maybe it's just my ignorance of leo genetics vs snake genetics (or at least as naming something goes), :dunce: but I notice there are a lot of questions about how a leo looks. Check out my pic is this a "whatever" type?......or this question "is this a hybino?", "what should this morph be?" etc. anotherwords, a hybino Honduran Milk is a breedable genetic morph, so that is what it would be, I wouldn't take an albino Honduran and ask "does this look like a hybino?" because even if it looked like one I know it is not a genetic hybino. I see questions like "I bought this as a hypo carrottail, but it looks more like a whatever, should I call it that?" Or for instance, with Tangerine Hondurans, there were some exceptional "lines" of them, the "Dreams" and the "Damm" lines, but I wouldn't just take a "generic" Tangerine that looked better than normal, and call it a Tangerine Dream, because it was not.

Are some of the morphs of leos "just" named or defined by color? I don't know maybe I'm not making any sense. Hopefully, a Leo person can figure out why I'm confused or understand what I am trying to figure out.

Some leo morphs are poorly defined...there's also the fact that a lot of people get animals and don't know anything about them...and that some breeders like to make up new fancy names for things that don't really need them...

No its not a Hybino

Well i bought her from ron tremper and he siad that she carried the hybino genes so she could be one. I still think she is an awsome gecko.
Funny how RT says that when he claims to have not added super hypos to his tangerine line. His tang are all selective bred and his Hybinos are the aptor line, might have lied to you...
Personally does that look like a hypo/super hypo like ray hine to you? Its very different to me

I would say she is a super hypo tangerine albino. Wow, it's hard to believe that is the same gecko in the other pic. She really browned out didn't she? I figured that was what happened. Maybe (if you haven't sold her yet), in future ads you could post pics of what she looked like before and after browning. She was killer looking before. Good luck.

no...

I would not consider your gecko a hybino. It is a very nice tangerine albino, IMHO. Here is a photo of a Hybino:

She really did brown out. I got her from Ron tremper before he introduced his aptor line she is not an aptor. Her lines are in with the hypos, not patternless. He told me that he had been working with the hypos and i got lucky with my gecko and got one.

Yes!

The original Hybino (HY=hypotangerine, BINO=Albino) was created by crossing a Ray Hine SHT with a Tremper Albino, and I believe it was Ray Hine that did it first. Since then, different breeders have coined their own terms for the same morph, such as HYGLOW, SUNGLOW, etc. But now, breeders like Kelli from HISS have created a Bell strain 'HYBINO's. I'm sure there is something similar in the Las Vegas strain of albino, as well. I am not sure who's line of hypo-tangerines that Ron Tremper uses for his Super-Tangerine Albinos.

Well, I talked to Ray Hine last week and he told me that he was the first one with tangerine hybino's (just like on his website) not tangerine albino's.

The guy from the urban gecko bought some of ray hine and bred them with his own gecko's and called it Sunglows. Ray Hine laught at it and couldn't beleive that the Urban gecko are selling them for such high prices.

(sorry if my spelling is not correct)

But I really don't get it anymore becouse we call this a Hybino (1st photo)
And on the second photo we call it a Tangerine Hybino but also Sunglow.

So, this is the same Gecko?

For the sake of those who were not aware of the previous related threads to this "Hybino / Tang Albino / Price" discussion I have attached two pics of what Zach says are the same Gecko. The juvie picture is very nice although I would still not claim it to be a Hybino, but definitely a nice Tangerine Tremper Albino.

That is a huge difference..... I can tell you one thing, you might laugh at Craigs sunglow prices but the get better as they grow.... They dont crap out like that animal did.....

hmmm...

I have attached two pics of what Zach says are the same Gecko.
It might very well be the same gecko! I have seen many Tremper Tangerines turn brown and lose thier orange coloration after they have been bred, kept on dark substrates, or on cooler temperatures.

Very True

It should also be noted that this does not affect the genetic makeup of the animal and that it can still potentially produce excellent offspring.

I have a HTCT female breeder that I picked up from Robbie Hamper about 2 years ago that is nowhere near a striking vibrant orange due to "brownout from breeding stress". However, this very female has produced my best tangerine hatchlings and I kept one of the males she produced last year to breed to what I consider my best females this year. :spinny:
