In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I received this boa as part of a package a couple of weeks ago. The seller said that he bought her as a hypo hogg, but that now he wasn't sure if she was or not. At first I just thought she was a cute little hypo, but I'm also not nearly as familiar with locales as many of you.

I'm not sure if there's even any way to tell without seeing the parents (as I know the case to be with Suris, Guyanas and such). Unless someone can confirm beyond any shadow of a doubt that she is a hypo hogg, I'll just sell her as a hypo. I'm not in a hurry to do anything, as I won't sell her until I'm positive that I can guarantee her health. She's just not going to serve any purpose to any of my projects.

Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Thanks for looking!!

**Looks like these 3 pics are the only ones clear enough to see much detail. She was being extremely active and wanted to explore the desk and knock the phone off the hook! If there are any certain shots I need to take to help, just let me know and I'll take whatever pics I need to (belly, head, tail shots, etc).

looks like that could be a hypo hogg. The ones I've seen are very similar in base and saddle colloration, hard to tell from these photos but looks like she may have the eye stripe more similar to hog isle boas.

Just a word of advice.. if you buy a snake as something specific.. you should sell it as the same unless you have good reason not to. If nothing else you need to mention what it was sold as.

Hypo Hoggs are locality crosses and selling that as just a hypo is unethical IMO.

OH....I guess I was kind of thinking the other way around. :shrug01: I was thinking that if I offered it has a hypo hogg, that I might be trying to sell it as something that it was not, hence my putting this thread here to find out if anybody could tell me for sure...(trying to do the right thing). As far as what the seller told me, he said that he bought it as a hypo hogg, but he believed that he only bought a "plain" (Columbian) hypo boa.

I have no intentions of marketing anything as anything more than what it is, which--in this case--is some sort of hypo. Thanks for the advice, but again, I had no intentions of being unethical. I have no problem whatsoever in letting someone know what it MIGHT be. I just have a big problem with some sellers trying to mark-up the price because something "looks like" it might be something better.

Hi Matt, some of my hypo hogs don't look like they have allot of hog island in them, others do. The best way, if possible, is to find out what the parents were. Like April said sell it as what you were told (if you cant find information about the parents). Just make sure you mention your not 100% sure it is a hypo hog or just a hypo. Take care.
Dennis

April and Dennis, thanks for the help. I almost did not start this thread because I was afraid that it might come across as me trying to "look for" genetics that aren't there. I really wasn't even thinking about the fact that if it IS a hypo hogg, someone might unknowingly (and unwillingly) cross a locale into their morphs.

Unfortunately seeing the parents is not an option. When I sell her, I will certainly list her as what I believe AND what she was presented as. Again, thanks for the help!

Sorry if my originaly reply came out badly, but your first post said 'i'll just sell her as a hypo' so I felt I needed to be a little stern.

It's ALL good! I did get a little offended at first because I felt like I was really trying hard to do the right thing....BUT I didn't mean to word my post exactly the way I did (I reread it and understand why you would take it that way...just as I "worded" it). Good call on your part. So for that, I totally respect your opinion and the meaning behind it. :yesnod:

Hey Matt. A clear picture of the head markings would be great. I am pretty big in to the Hypo hogg and sunset's. I do have a project I am working on with them. Being that I am only a few miles from you I would be glad to help you in any way if you would like me to look at her in person. It may not be easy to tell for certain and as mentioned you may just have to market her as unknown if she is hypo hog or just hypo.

Hey Chris! I might just take you up on that. Either way, I still want to get by and see some of your nice new clutch before you get them all sold.

Come by anytime Matt. I only have 6 hypo's left and I think 7 normals/pastels. I will be vending at the Columbia S.C. Repticon show this weekend.
