    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I’m being INVESTIGATED!

I can’t get over this! I want to purchase a female Cuban boa and sent the money through PayPal goods and services. I get an email saying there is a hold on this transaction to “comply with government regulations.” ALL BECAUSE I PUT “0.1 CUBAN BOA” in the notes. Like I and/or the seller are terrorists. I am not kidding!

Gee, I don't know why anyone would consider it a paranoid conspiracy theory when someone who claim they fear the government is looking over their shoulder 24/7...... ;)
 
Cancel the purchase and do it over without using the word Cuban. I once had a shipment of Iranian newts stopped at the senders post office. When they were reshipped as Neurergus kaisieri they went through no problem.
 
Oh geez. Now I can't remember what my transaction was called for my recently purchased snake, but it did not include the latin name. Transaction was for an Elaphe schrenckii aka Russian rat snake.
 
I know it’s over and done with, but I spent 3 full days feeling very ill-at-ease. So many people think government scrutiny can’t happen to them; well, obviously it can, and for no justifiable reason, and without probable cause.

Here’s something interesting for everyone to think about. Lack of Privacy was a topic of research and discussion in the HS Senior English Seminar I taught last semester. 26 out of 27 students (aged 17-18) said they had no problem/did not care that the government was screening their “data transmissions” because it keeps them safe (not IF, which requires oversight and probable cause, but BECAUSE, which assumes the government is only doing it for the betterment/increased safety of our society.) This is the generation that will be in charge during my twilight years. (I’m 54)
We are so f***** .

I agree...those who don't learn history are doomed to repeat it. The younger folks are growing up media-savvy, but not always with an appreciation of what "Big Brother" is all about. And if you diminish public education by relaxing standards & siphoning money off to voucher programs, you can be sure there is even less awareness...(now who would do a thing like that? :eek:) And those who don't remember what walls can do* might think that's ok too? *Are you keeping people out...or in? :face_palm_02: I'm right there with ya...
 
I'm with you on the privacy issue. It is disturbing. Has been disturbing for many years. That isn't a laughing matter. Not in the least.

However, in relation to our reptiles, I'm waiting for the notice telling me my Russian has been expelled. :rolleyes:
