    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I AM COMPLETLY STUMPED..HELP GUYS!!!!

i have a female het clown that i tried to breed last season and she did the whole routine..ovulation,i felt 4 eggs,then shed and then nothin...no egg lay or anything...i palpated her 4 weeks later and the eggs disappeared.3 weeks after that she went back on feed..now here is the kicker..this year she has been breeding since january and palpated her last week and i felt 4 good size bumps..what doesnt make any sense is that she just ovulated yesterday and is still locked with male???????anyone experience any off these symptoms?

yea,i am 100% sure about them both.she just ovulated last nite.the male is with her still..my guess would be they were folicles last year and she reabsorbed them?

That's a weird one...I was of the belief that once the eggs start developing, they can't be re-absorbed, only passed (whether they are fertile or not).

Forgive what may seem like a stupid question, but are you sure they're eggs, and not growths (cysts or the like)?

Edit - nevermind, I saw your response to Bob's question.

Thats my understanding as well, once they ovulate they cant absorb them. As far as them still being locked up they might not actually be locked and he is just in position.

I had a het pied fool me good last year! :angry: She was one of the few last season that I actually witnessed her ovulation. 30 days came and went...45 days...60 days and NOTHING! Her ovulation was VERY obvious so I have no doubts about that. She's huge this year and I'm hoping for a better outcome. Best I can figure (in my case) is that maybe the male that bred her wasn't fertile?? :shrug01:

i cant pin point it,i guess i have to wait and see what happens this season.i just hope it doesnt happen 2 in a row.

Mine does the same thing! The last two years she's tricked me, last year she swelled up really big, had four good sized lumps like yours, the boys started ignoring her and she showed every sign of being gravid in the book kept getting bigger, shed then poof! nothing. Swelling went down in a day or two she started eating again and that was it. She had definitely ovulated last year to but there was nothing. This year I'm praying for eggs this time, she's huge right now but i'm still worried it'll be a repeat.

What you guys are describing sounds like reabsorbed follicles. You might be mistaking the pre-ovulation swell for the ovulation. It can be hard to tell the difference between fully grown follicles and eggs, especially if the female sheds at the right time. Follicles stop further up the female than fertilized eggs do, but other than that there isn't much of a difference when palpating.

very true matthew,i want thank everyone for the input on the situation..i will keep monitoring her til hopefully she lays..but i will keep you posted.thank you guys.

Just want to throw this out there: according to Chris Mattison's The New Encyclopedia of Snakes, females can reaborb eggs even after ovulation as long as they have not been fertilized. If they have been fertilized (either by viable sperm or non-viable sperm), they cannot be reabsorbed, but any unfertilized eggs can be.
