    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Whaddup (Q.Q. stands for quick question btw,) Anyways i have a male ball python thats about 4-6 months old and about 1 3/4 ft long, was wondering if 290g was a normal weight or should i start feeding him more then once a week or feed him twice at once? And also what is an approporiate weight for a male to begin mating? Well i guess i actually had a few questions, but Thanks for any help

Hi and welcome! I feed all my young ball pythons about every five days. I don't feed them multiple prey items in one feeding day at that size.

What weight they "should" be depends on the animal - they grow at their own pace. If he's got good tone to him, is nicely rounded without being bloated looking and not triangular in shape, then he's probably right where he needs to be.

If you've never bred before, you probably want to wait until he's about 800 grams or more. There are more experienced breeders starting to try smaller/younger males, but for myself, in my first year of breeding this year, I know I don't have the experience yet to want to take the risk of over-working a younger male.

I have spent the last three years raising up my collection, so I do know each individual animal very well, and I do "listen" to my animals. But I'm also glad that I didn't rush into breeding and I'm enjoying experiencing all the "firsts" again (first lock, first ovulation, etc - when I got my first ball pythons it was first shed, first meal, etc).

Hope that helps!
